Nice little place to stop on your way to Miyama. This place sells freshly baked bread, sushi and other good foods.

View on GoogleI visited this roadside station. It isn't flashy, but it is lively with events. This time I visited during the 栗ざんまい event, but there are food-related events throughout the year, so it's a must-see! The events have been featured on TV and SNS and seem very popular. At 栗ざんまい, an enormous number of chestnut products were lined up; I think there were over 100 types. Inside the building are a restaurant and café, with many dishes using plenty of local ingredients and chestnuts. In summer only, you can also catch ayu by hand and have them grilled with salt. The downsides are: ・The building is old and the toilets smell ・There are few specialty products (there were plenty of chestnuts) ・The stamp stand is wobbly ・The 2nd parking lot is hard to find (EV facilities are also only in the 2nd lot) While the events make it lively, cars were constantly circling the 1st parking lot and causing congestion despite it being a weekday. We also found the 2nd parking lot when leaving, but I think most people hadn't noticed it. As proof, the 2nd parking lot was practically empty. ※It is across the road. I hope they continue making improvements and it becomes a more appealing roadside station. For a detailed look at the footage I took, “search for 『道の駅和レビュー』 on YouTube”.
View on GoogleOn the final day of the 栗ざんまい fair, I went prepared for the crowds, but arrived around 11 and just managed to park in the 2nd parking lot. There was already a line inside, but it was far better than I'd imagined. I could order at the register after about 15-20 minutes and sit down without waiting for a seat. I bought the signature モンブランモンブラン, プレミアムモンブラン, and botamochi limited to 100 pieces. First, the Mont Blanc. Both were delicious ☆ But they use the same Mont Blanc cream, so the taste is almost the same lol. The プレミアムモンブラン had a strong citrus aroma, perhaps yuzu?, which drowned out the chestnut flavor… Personally, I want to savor the chestnut flavor, so I think it could do without the citrus.. The botamochi had a soft, melting texture I'd never tried before. At 325 yen, it was a bit expensive for its size. Also, as others have written, the disappointing part is the toilets.. There was a lot of mold around the washbasins, and the toilets were old-fashioned. If business is this good, I'd like them to renovate the toilets too..

A roadside station where you can enjoy abundant nature and spectacular panoramic views along the Yura River 😀 Enjoy fresh local vegetables, specialties “和知黒(黒豆)” and “和知栗”, seasonal food, and the summer-only “鮎ガーデン” 😀 Spring → Strawberry fair and cherry blossom viewing Summer → Catching ayu by hand and salt-grilled ayu (鮎ガーデン) Autumn → Fairs packed with seasonal flavors such as 和知栗 and 和知黒 Winter → Game meat dishes (deer, wild boar, bear, etc.) and an event comparing 50 types of mochi 鮎ガーデン (6/21–end of 9) Weekdays 11:00–18:00 Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays 11:00–21:00 The Yura River flows around the roadside station, and the fresh greenery is beautiful and soothing ⸜(*´ᗜ`*)⸝ In summer, 鮎ガーデン beside the river has a great setting, and the ayu is delicious 👍 The view from the dining area is fantastic too ♪⋆* The souvenir section has plenty of variety, making it fun to choose ♪⋆* I wanted black soybean bread, but it was sold out (。•́︿•̀。) There was a swallow's nest inside the toilets, which was cute 😀 The mushrooms I bought in the farm produce section were delicious 😋 The building looks old outside, but the setting is wonderful and the souvenir section is well stocked, so it's one of my favorite roadside stations (๑•᎑•๑) 🅿️Total capacity: 95 cars.
