The atmospheric building, which was relocated from the second floor of a folk house from the early Meiji period, is full of highlights such as the cosmetic ceiling and the nijiriguchi (small entrance) that the owner made as a hobby. On the dirt floor there are two tables for 4 and 2 people. In the tatami room in the back there is one table? The contrast between the light coming in from the nijiriguchi and the dimness of the tatami room was beautiful. When I submerged plenty of grated daikon radish into the soba soup rich in bonito flavor and ate the fresh soba noodles, the refreshing spiciness of the radish and the flavor of the soup passed through my nose. The hospitality of the elegant couple was conveyed, and I spent a pleasant afternoon. It is in Kizugawa City, but it is close from Nara. I recommend stopping by when visiting Jōruri-ji. There is a Jōruri-ji parking lot.

Wabi-sabi feeling soba shop "Teuchi Soba Kichijoan" I visited **Teuchi Soba Kichijoan**, a soba shop in front of Jōruri-ji in Kizugawa City, Kyoto Prefecture. The interior has a calm atmosphere that renovated an old folk house from the Meiji period. There are table seats and tatami seats, and this time we were guided to table seats. It seems the shop was DIY-ed by the owner himself. Menu includes seiro soba 1000 yen, oroshi soba 1300 yen, nishin soba 1500 yen, etc. This time, I ordered oroshi soba. After a while, oroshi soba was brought. Soba is thin and chewy, and goes down very well. The aroma of soba is also rich, and you can enjoy the flavor. Also, the spicy radish works well with the soup. The soup is a simple seasoning that brings out the flavor of the soba. Overall, it was a very delicious and satisfying meal. Also, the couple who own the shop are very friendly, and it was a comfortable shop. When I asked, it seems the soba is made by their son who is a sculptor before he goes to work in the morning. Also, the owner is a former ceramic artist and is currently a leading expert in the Heian period ivory craft "Bachiru"! **Overall Rating** ・Soba: ★★★★☆ ・Soup: ★★★★☆ ・Atmosphere: ★★★★☆ ・Service: ★★★★☆ **Recommendation Level** ★★★★★ (5 full points) **Summary** **Teuchi Soba Kichijoan**, a soba shop in Kizugawa City, Kyoto Prefecture, is a shop with delicious soba and a comfortable atmosphere. When sightseeing in Kyoto, please visit.

I went to "Teuchi Soba Kichijoan" located near Jōruri-ji. Soba menu has 3 items: seiro soba, oroshi soba, and nishin soba. Simple is best! Seiro soba is also simple (lol) Soba, soup, wasabi! Simple soba is the most delicious😋 There are almost no soba spots. I thought the draining of the soba water was a little weak, but it had a chewy texture and was delicious🤤 The soup was a sweet soup😊 Wasabi that was grated doesn't insist that it is wasabi, but it is a sharp supporting actor! The only shops where I thought the wasabi was delicious are Hikoemon and Kichijoan! I think it is wonderful as a craftsman to be particular even about supporting roles☺️ The soba soup was thicker than I thought for the first customer of the day😊 Soba-yu also goes well with the sweet soup!! By the way, it is quite small, so please be careful! It was delicious♪ Thank you for the meal😋

【Visit February 19, 2023】 Weather: Rain Temperature: 14℃ Humidity: 89% Today was not blessed with weather and it was a day with high rainfall. This shop is located at the foot of Jōruri-ji. The shop itself seems to have been operating for over 50 years, but it changed to a tea room in 2020, and returned to a soba shop in 2021. Because of many years of operation, the owner has also been passed down from the first generation -> second son -> third son, and as of February 19, 2023, the third son is currently operating as the owner and soba maker. Now, let's enjoy soba with a historic shop, inherited traditions, an atmosphere that makes one feel wabi-sabi, and a wonderful atmosphere. Today I decided to have seiro soba and nishin kanroni (sweet simmered herring). This shop's menu is very simple. Only seiro soba, nishin soba, nishin kanroni, and Japanese sake. Don't you think this menu is amazing? It is a very basic composition where the words "simple is best" sound common. It is truly a soba shop! ■Seiro Soba 《Soba-kiri》 Production variety is unconfirmed. Made with an 8:2 ratio. It is grayish-white, cut a little thin, and the edges stand out. There are almost no soba spots, and the impression was that the water draining was slightly weak. Lip touch is good and it goes into the mouth smoothly. When chewed, it emitted an aroma that makes you feel the wild nature of soba firmly. The chewiness is strong, and as you continue to chew, it changes to a firm chewy texture. Swallowing is also pleasant, and I could feel the soba-like atmosphere of soba in all processes from the lips to the stomach. 《Soba Soup》 It is a soba soup where the flavor of fish stock stands out. It is a balance slightly on the sweet side, but how to say, it is just the right balance. Also, as you can see from the appearance, it is a soba soup with some transparency, and even when I tasted it, it was a refreshing and clear soba soup without any resistance. I think it is a soba soup that is not thick but fresh and highly sophisticated. 《Condiments》 Only wasabi. This is also good. The grated wasabi has a mild spiciness but is very clear. What a refreshing spicy wasabi... I was very impressed. I didn't think it was a wasabi with such a refreshing spiciness. 《Soba-yu》 It is a straight-type soba-yu. There is no mixture at all. This should be the first soba-yu in today's operation, but it was cloudier than imagined, and in the soba-yu, the aroma of soba drifted gently. It is my own imagination, but isn't the hot water, or the original water for boiling, also very delicious water? Because it is a straight type, the mouthfeel etc. are light, but it is rare to meet such a gentle soba-yu. In addition, I felt great emotion in the soba-yu that I put into the soba soup and drank. Really, it's gentle. However, I felt it was a magic-like soba-yu that changes the aroma of soba and the individuality of the soba soup into a different dimension. Kichijoan, in a word, is "essence". I think it is a shop that is truly the essence of soba and soba shops.

11/22 When the autumn leaves are at their best, a soba shop standing quietly near Jōruri-ji Even without seeing the face, the interior and garden that make you imagine the owner's meticulousness, obsession, and elegance And soba... The landlady's emotional customer service feels nostalgic and polite, comfortable. Soba-yu was a gentle taste that makes you feel the sweetness in the back of your throat. The broth has a deep taste that you can imagine bonito flakes, with the aroma of bonito arriving quickly as if they added bonito again. The seiro soup that is not too sweet suited my taste. Nishin soba feels thin on the first or second bite, but the longer it goes, the better it gets, and in the end it changes into a broth that can be enjoyed steadily, which is good.
