Gorgeous authentic little soba shop, after a hot walk from Gansenji it was so refreshing. I had Shiso juice, soba set and yuzu sorbet all for less than 2000yen. The garden is beautiful too, in June the hydrangeas are blooming

A few days ago, I went to the Kizugawa era of Kyoto to enjoy the autumn leaves and shoot some pictures. It was a very nice, sunny day and our first destination was the town of Kasagi and the Kasagi-dera on Mt.Kasagi in Sōraku-gun, Kyoto-fu. It involved quite a bit of hiking on this famous historical mountain and climbing over, under and through its mysterious rocks. Afterwards we headed to Gansen-ji (岩船寺) and by then we were quite hungry and looking for a lace to have some lunch. I remembered from a previous visit to this area that, on the sloop leading to Jōruri-ji (浄瑠璃寺), there was a picturesque restaurant. The restaurant has a large garden with some benches and a large wooden barrel that is converted on the inside as a seating area. In front of the restaurant is a small pond with the branches of a Weeping Cherry tree (Shidarezakura) stretched out over it. An amazing sight in spring I assume. The The interior of the restaurant is quite simple, but the food is very nice. We had tororo soba (とろろ蕎麦-Slimy soba noodles with grated nagaimo), a delicacy. The soba noodles are served in a large bowl, you then add the broth and the grated nagaimo, mix everything well and enjoy. Along with the main tororo soba dish come some local tsukemono (pickled veggies) and some bits of konnyaku (蒟蒻). You can choose a raw egg to mix with your soba dish and tofu is an extra add on. By the way their tofu is delicious and home made. If you ever visit Jōruri-ji temple in Kizugawai county, I can heartily recommend this place.

I visited Jōruri-ji for Mother's Day, and this is my first landing at this shop which I couldn't make it to last time☺️ My mother ordered tororo soba, and I ordered the soba set meal! For the soba set meal, it was soba with plenty of ingredients such as mountain vegetables, fu, maitake mushrooms, nameko mushrooms, and shrimp tempura. The balance between the broth and the soba was mild and had a gentle flavor✨ I added shichimi and it was just right and delicious! There was also sesame tofu that was sticky, rich, and delicious, refreshing and crunchy pickled onions, and leaf wasabi tsukudani that was highly fragrant. The rice topped with red shiso furikake was also refreshing and made me eat more and more😄 1300 yen for this is cheap! (Tororo soba is 1100 yen) As expected, it was a high-level set meal, but even for me, a soba alien, it was quite voluminous (lol), so if you think you can't finish it, you can order tororo soba and order sesame tofu and others separately, so that is also recommended😊 After praying at Jōruri-ji and getting full, we headed straight to Gansen-ji deep in the mountains by car, and my mother said it was a very satisfying day, and I myself was healed😄 The shop's time is until 15:30, so I recommend Ashibino shop where you can have delicious food along with an early visit to the temple. Delicious soba while listening to the singing of bush warblers and looking at the scenery deep in the mountains is exceptional🥰

I had a late lunch when I visited Jōruri-ji. It's like a hideaway in the mountains, and the well-maintained garden is wonderful. I want to visit when the hydrangeas are blooming beautifully. After passing through the noren, the interior of the shop has an old folk house style and charm. I ordered tororo soba. You can choose cold or hot. Kaeshi made from Rishiri kelp and bonito flakes, mountain vegetables and maitake mushrooms, leaf wasabi tsukudani. Everything was harmonious and delicious.

Today I visited for lunch with 4 friends. Because it was the snow-melting season and it was cold, we ate together with the nabeyaki udon group and the mountain vegetable soba set group. Close to Jōruri-ji, we entered while looking at the blooming of early-blooming cherry blossoms (New Year's cherry blossoms) in the garden from the entrance. The atmosphere is comfortable and in harmony with the nature outside. The miso here is homemade low-salt miso using only domestic soybeans, domestic rice, salt, and rice koji, and you can also buy it as a souvenir. The soy sauce used is naturally brewed soy sauce taken from moromi. It was a shop that emphasized natural things such as homemade pickles.
