Meals were very good! The price was a great deal! The service was also very good and it wasn't awkward even if you didn't speak English or Japanese. It's very relaxing. It's like being at home. The private room is huge and very toddler friendly! There's also a cute crab doll, my daughter keeps saying it's her favorite 😂 It's a little way from downtown, but it's a restaurant well worth visiting. On the way back, I realized that the restaurant is very close to the JR station (I took a taxi to the restaurant and it cost me 7100 yen, but only 500 yen/person by JR on the way back 😂). It's a restaurant that I will visit again! From Taiwan.

One word - wow! We were absolutely blown away by the flavor and texture from the different ways that the crab was prepared. My partner and I went for the 22,000 yen (tax incl.) per person Crab kaiseki meal which featured the snow crab. Joyo is a 20-30 minute train ride from Kyoto station and Kaniman is a 3 minute walk from Joyo station. Upon arrival we were pleasantly greeted and invited into a private dining space. And then the crab dishes started to come one by one. Just when we thought it was over, the very friendly lady who was serving us would bring yet another crab cooked in a delicious and unique way. My favorite was the crab miso and my partner loved the crab tempura. The uji matcha ice cream at the end was also excellent. This is a must try if you want to leave with a belly full of crab and a smile :-). Be sure to reserve in advance!

This place is fantastic! The food is delicious and offers great value for the price. The service was exceptional, the ladies who assisted us, was very kind and helpful. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Booked on online via their questionnaire on their website. The owners responded quickly (yay). We ordered their most expensive set meal when we booked, completely underestimating our stomach capacity... Between the two of us, I think we are at least three full crabs (estimated around two crab legs per course) + miscellaneous vegetables. I strongly recommend to arrive to the place in starving mode. My favorite dish is probs the sashimi and the tempura, but everything tasted fresh. Visited this place as part of the Uji-Nara day trip in January 2020.
