「Free admission」「Fun weaving experience for 100 yen」「丹波布資料館」 Amazingly, you can try weaving for 100 yen. The fabric you make in 30 minutes can be used as a coaster. You can learn the basics of weaving with guidance from the staff. 丹波布 is cotton weaving and weaving made from waste cocoons that developed as everyday household goods from the Edo period through the Meiji period. In other words, it was a craft serving as fast fashion, like today's しまむら and ジーユー. Apparently, leftover thread, fabric, and silk were put to use. The exhibits convey its simplicity and the vivid reality of everyday life. 【Parking】Ample space 【Accessible restroom♿】Clean 【Accessibility♿】Wheelchair users can enter #letsguide

★Equipped with an AED, and the rag-weaving(さきおり)experience is popular★ ※Photography is prohibited only in the activity classroom. The woman at reception at 佐藤太清記念美術館 said, 『I definitely recommend it』, so I took her advice and visited for the first time (laugh). City employee 尾松克巳 kindly explained that the rag-weaving experience takes about 30 minutes. The rag-woven coasters and friendship bracelets are inexpensive too, and various heartfelt handmade goods are sold, so I bought some as souvenirs. It's reassuring that there's an entrance ramp and an accessible restroom so wheelchair users can visit easily too.

While traveling in 福知山, we passed 丹波生活衣館. We hadn't originally planned to visit, but we saw a weaving activity and went inside. The interior isn't large, and the staff were very enthusiastic, inviting us to try various activities. In the end, we chose weaving, which cost only 100 yen. You read that right: just 100 yen, practically only the cost of materials. There was even one-on-one instruction. We were really amazed. The teacher first demonstrated how to weave and let us choose the patterns and fabric. Then we completed the entire weaving process ourselves. Afterward, the teacher helped tidy the fabric edges and taught us how to tie the fringe. There are four activities, but because of time, we only tried one. The museum also displays clothing unique to 丹波 and its production process. Next time we visit 福知山, we'll definitely come here again. While we were there, we also encountered a group of kindergarten children visiting.

Not sure what to do in 京都? Come to welcoming 福知山! On the way to 福知山城, we happened to spot 「丹波生活衣館」. We originally just wanted somewhere to escape the heat and enjoy some air conditioning❄️ Unexpectedly, we found the rag-weaving さきおり and thread-braiding くみひも activities we'd tried at 飛驒之里. We had to try them again~~ The two staff members (an uncle and auntie) were both so attentive and patient explaining things to us as we fumbled around! We got so into it that 2 hours flew by, and we almost forgot we'd originally planned to visit 福知山城 XD Because we loved the activities here and the friendly uncle and auntie so much, after visiting 福知山城, we came back to try them again😂 I really recommend spending half a day here trying rag weaving さきおり and thread braiding くみひも👍
