On the way back from Tango to Kyoto city, I got off the highway and went to Dining Matsui in Ayabe. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they were closed sometimes, so it had been a long time. I really wanted to go. After making a phone reservation, I went by car on Saturday at 12:30, and the 3 parking spaces in front of the shop and the 6 parking spaces next to it were almost full. The interior is based on black with dimmed, stylish lighting. A spacious semi-private room separated by bamboo blinds? The menu can be chosen from the lunch menu and single items. Since my breakfast was late, I wasn't that hungry, but looking at the menu tempted me. I ordered the chicken nanban lunch set. One large piece of chicken thigh meat, crispy with an exquisite sauce and vegetables like green onions. The tartar sauce served separately has the texture of cucumber as an accent. You can choose between white rice and wild vegetable rice, and you can get refills. Miso soup with softly cooked daikon radish and the flavor of shimeji mushrooms. The homemade pickled daikon and cucumber and the chewy wild vegetable rice, like okowa, were delicious. My two children ordered the hamburger and fried shrimp set. Salad, wild vegetable rice, miso soup, and pickles. In addition, although it wasn't clear in the menu photo, the round and thick hamburger was boiling in onion sauce in a large hot stone pot, looking even more delicious. Soft-boiled egg, thin pasta, and french fries. On top of that, I was surprised by the large fried shrimp with its head. Is this a children's lunch for adults? Everyone was very excited. Another person ordered tempura soba. Shiitake mushroom tempura? and 3 shrimp tempura. The soba is thin and easy to eat. This carefully prepared lunch is large in volume overall, and the menu includes tax and is reasonable. It's a pity that the delicious wild vegetable rice couldn't be refilled. In the middle of the table, there seems to be an iron plate for yakiniku, and the meat menu seems to be extensive. A restaurant that makes me think about what to eat next time.
