In Yuni, a small town near to Chitose in Hokkaido, you're probably not going to find a better food joint than this mecca to all things innards. Very crowded on a Sunday lunch IMO for such a secluded town, you get individual cooking pan to basically cook the seasoned innards yourself. Friendly old ladies dominate the service staff added a touch of home-away-from-home feel you only get in small towns.
View on GoogleJapanese horumon restaurant. Very famous, and there was a line when our group arrived for Sunday lunch. Everyone enjoyed the horumon, and left with their fill.
View on Google『東京ホルモン』, a popular horumon restaurant in 由仁町. Since it's popular, I waited outside from 20 minutes before opening. I went in as soon as they opened and got seated without any trouble(^^) I ordered 「ホルモン」, 「ハーフ野菜セット」, 「ライス小」, and 「麺」. The staff carefully explained how to cook it. The flavor lived up to its reputation. The horumon is light yet flavorful and goes very well with the miso sauce. I tried adding 3 spoonfuls of miso sauce. ライス小 wasn't enough…. To finish, I added the noodles, poured on miso sauce, and cooked them. The key is to add them while some of the horumon juices remain. A very delicious horumon restaurant.
View on GoogleI ordered a medium rice and ended up ordering noodles to finish too. It all goes down easily and deliciously. The tongue base had a firm, crunchy bite. It was lunchtime on a weekday, but I got in smoothly without waiting~. Thanks for the meal(◍•ᴗ•◍)
View on GoogleI visited because I was nearby for work! Since I went on a weekday right at opening (11:00), I got in without waiting. They have counter seating, so I could eat comfortably even on my own! Since I was alone, I ordered just one plate of horumon, vegetables, and white rice. With 2 or more people, I'd want to enjoy other meats and noodles to finish too. You cook it yourself on an iron griddle (simmer it?). Adjust the flavor to your liking with the slightly sweet miso on the table. The heat was stronger than I expected, so it looks a little burnt in the photo, but it was absolutely fine. Apparently the correct approach is to keep cooking liquid in it at all times◎, so I added water partway through. (3 spoonfuls of miso was just right for me👍) The perfectly balanced miso flavor makes you keep eating the white rice, and the horumon's texture is addictive. I want to go back again!!! Orders are placed on a touchscreen, and the food arrived about 3 minutes after ordering—amazingly fast service. From entering to eating and leaving, everything was done within 30 minutes. It seems to get crowded around lunchtime on holidays, so weekdays or opening time seem like good times to go.
