Yoichi Space Dome is a memorial museum for the first Japanese astronaut. Although small, it is packed with a lot of informative display of space travel as well as different rockets. There is also a section dedicated to stars with a huge telescope (but it’s not an operational telescope). Each guest cost 500¥ for adult is really affordable! Down side it is Japanese orientated with limited English translation. Still it’s perfect for space enthusiasts to see rocket technology from different era! I shall not spoil it with photos from within the exhibition area!
View on GoogleThe Yoichi Space Memorial Museum, also known as Space Dome Yoichi, is an engaging and educational destination in Yoichi, Hokkaido, honoring Japan’s first astronaut, Mamoru Mohri, who was born in the town. The museum is housed in a futuristic, dome-shaped building and features a variety of interactive exhibits focused on space science, astronomy, and Mohri’s achievements. Inside, visitors can find life-size models of rockets and space equipment, as well as a recreated space shuttle cockpit where you can get a feel for what it's like to be an astronaut. The small planetarium offers an impressive visual experience of the night sky, making it a favorite for both kids and adults. The museum is clean, well-organized, and staffed with helpful personnel. It’s a great educational stop for families, science enthusiasts, or anyone curious about Japan’s role in space exploration.
View on GoogleIf you’re visiting Yoichi, I highly recommend stopping by Space Dome. It’s a small exhibition hall, but you can really feel the passion and dedication of the staff. Be sure to arrive early, as there are a few interactive activities for kids that make learning fun. A great place for families!
View on GoogleThe coolest space museum I have seen. I have been to the Smithsonian twice, and I must say that the models and exhibits here are giving the Smithsonian a run for their money. Must see!
View on GoogleSmall museum thats dedicated to a Japanese scientist that spent some time on ISS. Everything is in Japanese so a translation app is necessary. There are lots of little items and nick knacks from the ISS on display.
