A must-visit if you’re interested in Japanese whisky. The tour is well organized, and the grounds are beautiful with a peaceful atmosphere. Even if you’re not a whisky expert, it’s fascinating to learn about Nikka’s history and the whisky-making process. The tasting at the end is a great experience, and the gift shop has a good selection of exclusive products and souvenirs. The staff are friendly, and everything is well maintained. I highly recommend making a reservation in advance if you plan to join the guided tour. Definitely worth the visit when you’re in Hokkaido!

We visited the Nikka Museum and Distillery in Yoichi as part of a guided tour. While whisky isn't exactly my passion, I found the history behind Nikka and its founder quite interesting. The distillery grounds are beautifully preserved, and our guide did a great job explaining the whisky-making process and the story of how Japanese whisky began. The tasting session at the end was a nice way to experience the different expressions, and whisky enthusiasts will likely appreciate it even more. For me, it was less about the whisky and more about learning a piece of Japanese history and craftsmanship. A worthwhile stop if you're in the area, especially if you're curious about Japan's whisky culture.

Incredibly interesting history of how the Nikka Whisky business came into being. You can either get a place on the tour, which is 'first come, first served', and must be booked in advance, but is free, or just walk around the museum and grounds on a self-tour, but there's no free whisky! There's no entry fee. The tour goes into the logistics of how they make the whisky. If you don't get to join the whisky tour, the bar sells measures of all the whiskies for you to buy and try, at a reasonable price. Alongside the museum, there's also a very nice restaurant, and shop, where you can also buy miniatures of the different whiskies, if how you're going to transport them home in hand luggage is an issue. It's a quick and easy day out. You can probably spend a few hours here, and seeing as it's very near both the train station, and buses for Otaru, no-one needs to drive!

The Nikka Museum is at the historic Yoichi Distillery in Hokkaido..Japan. The museum has an exclusive paid tasting bar .... historical exhibits and gifts shop. The tasting bar served rare and exclusive Nikka whiskies not easily found elsewhere. The entry to the distillery and museum is free. There provide free guided tour for a better understanding of the whiskey making process and the history of Nikka Whiskey.

Nice and simple to visit. They have a great free museum with translated information for tourist. You get a sense of the life story of the brewer. I suggest trying some of their whiskey or even buy something from the store. The ideal place for limited 'event' whiskey. + they have a great European food selection
