This is not てっぺん市場, but a souvenir shop called “えぞや”. This shop sells うまい棒 in 利尻昆布 flavor. Even though I am from Hokkaido, it was my first time seeing it. I bought loads for friends and coworkers. That alone was enough to satisfy me.

I visited 宗谷岬 during Super Golden Week in May. This souvenir shop really stands out among the places around 宗谷岬. It has appeared on YouTube quite often too. There are more 宗谷岬-related products here than at 柏屋. It seems you can buy a certificate of arrival at the northernmost point here too. Is it てっぺん市場❔ Or the original shop “えぞや”, かまだ商事❔ Which is it, I wonder? It just looks like a souvenir shop to me.

Next to 最北端食堂 is a place called “てっぺん市場” that mainly serves seafood rice bowls… Two years ago, a typhoon meant we had to stay several nights at “最北の宿”, but they said there was no lunch, so we borrowed umbrellas and headed for “てっぺん市場”, about ８０m from the inn! Since the typhoon kept us from going anywhere all day, we thought, let us eat some delicious Hokkaido food!… Each of us ordered what we liked! For a tourist destination, the prices were not that high, and it was delicious!! The place itself is not particularly fancy, but I recommend it. The prices may have changed, though… Do give it a try to mark your visit to the northernmost point…

I was able to buy a postcard-sized arrival certificate here for １００ yen. The souvenirs are reasonably priced too, with a good selection.

The lavish presentation and the taste—no complaints! Since you have come all this way, visit the place next door too, haha. The seafood here was more satisfying! The interior is spacious too, so you can relax comfortably.
