Fujita Shokudō (お食事処 ふじ田) is a cozy local restaurant conveniently located inside JR Wakkanai Station, making it an excellent place to enjoy regional cuisine before or after your journey. One of the restaurant's signature dishes is Wakkanai Ramen, which showcases local seafood ingredients from the area. The bowl I ordered was generously topped with a large Hokkaido scallop (hotate), squid, and other local specialties, creating a flavorful and satisfying meal that highlights the region's maritime heritage. The ramen was delicious, the ingredients tasted fresh, and the portion size was generous enough to leave me completely satisfied. At around 1,500 JPY, it offered good value considering the quality and quantity of seafood included. One thing to keep in mind is that service can be a bit slow, as the restaurant operates with a relatively small staff. If you're planning to dine here, it's best to allow extra time and avoid coming when you're in a hurry. Overall, Fujita Shokudō is a great place to try authentic Wakkanai specialties and enjoy a hearty meal in a convenient location. 🍜🦑🦪
View on GoogleOne of the few dining options inside Wakkanai Station, conveniently located across several souvenir shops—making it an easy and practical stop. The interior feels a bit dated, but it’s clean and well-maintained, offering a straightforward, no-frills dining environment. I ordered the seafood ramen, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The broth carried a gentle, oceanic aroma, though it was less saline than expected for a seafood-based soup. Instead of a bold briny profile, it leaned toward a milder, more subdued flavor, allowing the natural sweetness of the ingredients to come through. On the palate, it was light and easy to enjoy—perhaps not as intense as some might prefer, but still comforting and well-balanced. A solid option for a quick meal in Wakkanai—simple, clean, and quietly satisfying.
View on GoogleDespite the attitude of the staff here, the food is good and very affordable. The ramen and pork rice set I ordered came exactly as described, and was very tasty and filling. I waited no more than 5-10 minutes. It wasn't busy either when I visited in the afternoon, and it was very clean. Seating is limited though, only 3 tables, 2 mats and 4 bar chairs.
View on GoogleConveniently located right inside the train station, they serve a pretty unique "Wakkanai ramen" that seems to be a shoyu base topped with lots of beautiful seafood. The soup base is actually surprisingly good so such an unassuming place, with a pretty deep flavour and nicely salted. The toppings are the real special part with shrimp, scallops, and squid. The noodles are just standard store bought yellow squiggly guys, but they're decent enough. It's pretty pricy at ¥1300 but given the toppings, I say it's worth it. Overall a 7.7/10 bowl. With really good noodles it could be an 8+.
