Cape Soya where everyone strides to make a visit to complete their bucket list. I rode up all the way from Tokyo Japan, crossed by ferry to Hakodate. The ride both ways in August was beautiful and full of amazing flora and fauna. If you’re in japan make sure to visit the northern most part of the country, you’ll have lasting memories.
View on GoogleI stopped at Cape Soya Drift Ice Museum when I visited Cape Soya. My driver took me here after our brief and I mean brief stay at Cape Soya due to gale winds. I was not entirely certain of what this museum was about since it was all in Japanese. There is a freezer that displays real drift ice. Like real ice taken from the ocean and displayed to view!!! It also showcases animals that are associated with the area. It is also souvenir shoppe. It’s free to visit and makes your visit to Cape Soya memorable.
View on GoogleI don't know, but a Japanese friend explained that taking this picture means something..

View on GoogleYou will find it by walking all the way through the souvenir shop at 宗谷岬. It is free to view. You cannot go inside because opening and closing the drift ice room’s door apparently causes the ice to melt. The temperature inside was shown as minus 20 degrees.
