2025.07.17 The horse museum was next to the local history museum, and admission was free. Inside were a taxidermy specimen of Hindostan, the father of the famous Shinzan, who won five titles in Japan (Satsuki Sho, Japanese Derby, Tenno Sho, Kikuka Sho, Arima Kinen), a guest carriage, and other horse-related exhibits. Recommended for horse lovers.
View on GoogleApparently it went from breeding farm horses during the pioneering era to raising war horses for the Sino-Japanese and Russo-Japanese wars, then became a racehorse-breeding area where the incredible monster, five-title champion “Shinzan,” was born. It's a small museum, but packed with Urakawa's horse history. 2025-08-15

View on GoogleIt was unstaffed when I visited. It was free, and an old museum with atmosphere. I planned to ride a horse the next day, so I stopped by to learn about horses. You can look through it quickly in about 15 minutes, but it clearly explains horse types, origins, and temperaments, which was nice.
View on GoogleYou can see materials about racehorses from past generations for free, making it a place I highly recommend to horse lovers. There were also many horses featured in Uma Musume, so it's good for a fan pilgrimage too.
