This observation deck is along the way toward Tokachi on National Route 236, commonly known as 「天馬街道」. It isn't particularly high, but you can see the grasslands, mountains, and ranches across the Hidaka Horobetsu River. From here you can view 「うらかわオバケ桜」, which is normally off-limits and can only be seen up close for a limited period. Naturally, it looks quite small from this distance, though...
View on GoogleThe entrance is a steep, one-way slope, so watch for cars coming down from above. You can see Obake Sakura, but it's quite far away, so you can't appreciate its true magnificence. Still, since the actual site is only open for about 3 days, perhaps just being able to see it from here is good enough. The parking lot looks like it could fit about 5 cars.
View on GoogleIt's called an observation deck, but the trees get in the way and you can hardly see anything. Incidentally, there's parking for about four cars and no toilets.
View on GoogleI always pass by and had been curious, so I stopped in. There's space to park 4 or 5 cars. For an observation deck, the scenery isn't good at all. Apparently, when Obake Sakura is blooming, you can see it in the distance.
View on GoogleIt's called an observation deck, but it feels more like a spot on a small hill. You don't get the panoramic view I imagined, but there are cherry trees🌸 this time of year, and you can enjoy the scenery of horse-breeding country☺️. It's maintained as an observation deck and has plenty of parking, so it seems worth visiting👏.
