Driving along the national highway, you'll see cherry blossoms blooming in profusion across the whole vast park. It's a park in Tsubetsu called "Nature Sports Park," which also serves as the "Hokkaido Prefectural Tsubetsu 21st Century Forest," a vast recreational park that's truly beautifully maintained. Along with the cherry blossoms, you can also enjoy shibazakura (moss phlox) (their peak blooming periods differ). I think it's a park you can enjoy in various ways through each season. This year it seemed the cherry blossoms would bloom early, but due to a sudden cold snap and the weather, the blooming stalled right after it began, so full bloom seems to have been slightly delayed. The usual best viewing time is around early May. Taking over from the cherry blossoms, the shibazakura will be at their best around mid to late May.

The moss phlox and other cherry trees were in bloom… but only the twin cherry trees had no blossoms left… What a shame

You can drive up close by car. The parking lot is on the left. As of Reiwa 5/4/30, the cherry blossoms are nearly in full bloom without waiting for the collaboration with the moss phlox. You can take your time enjoying the view. You can see the cherry blossoms up close. The grass is also well-maintained and kept beautiful.

The cherry blossoms were in full bloom. You can drive all the way in. It's not very crowded, so it's a hidden gem.

I stopped by on May 6 during a drive. I think it was still only 20 to 30% in bloom. It has a nice feel to it.
