This place is a great location to catch a wonderful panoramic view of the lake from above. Not high enough that the lake appears distant, but not close enough that you can't fathom its sheer scale and immensity. Truly a marvellous place for a roadside stop with ample parking for cars and buses, clean public toilets, large souvenir shops and even a small boutique cafe with picnic tables to sit and enjoy a treat.

Most remotes place that allows you to oversees the 十和田湖 Tawanda lake. The scenery is amazing! With a bit cloud float atop makes the lake and the observation place most wonderful. One thing to be aware!! Since there are multiple incidents about bear in Japan. There is a sign right by the entrance and the parking lot letting you know there was a bear appearance before.

The weather became better and we could enjoy the great view of Lake Toya from this spot. There are also pudding and yogurt worth a try.

📆 January 1 2026 Beautiful views of Lake Toya where you also get to see Mount Usu and Shōwa-shinzan surrounding the lake. Looks pretty unreal seeing the observation deck in a bed of snow. There’s also an on-site rest house selling sweets and coffee. A lot of people were inside to warm themselves up and grab a little snack.

Lake Toya is very beautiful and peaceful. The water is calm and the views are wide and open, which makes it a great place to relax. On a clear day, the reflection on the lake is stunning. The whole area feels quiet and not overly commercial. If you have time, staying overnight would be even better.
