A restaurant marked by a big blue sign along Route 36. There's a fairly large gravel parking lot in the back. The interior is a bit well-worn, with tables, tatami seating, and a counter. This time I ordered the katsu curry for 1,000 yen. It arrived in a little over 10 minutes. Visually, it was obviously a big portion. When I scooped up the katsu with my spoon, it wasn't very thick. But it was freshly fried and reasonably tasty. On the side came finely shredded cabbage with dressing and fukujinzuke. Now, as for the all-important curry roux, it really was just roux, with no trace whatsoever of meat, vegetables, or anything resembling ingredients. The rice was easily a large-portion level. Since the roux is monotonous, you might get a little bored working through this huge amount of rice? Even so, it's good value and tasty enough. The staff were pleasant, and the interior has a good old-fashioned feel. Recommended.

I had the Daikatsu set meal! I was told it's a big cutlet, so I got curious about how big the portion would be and ordered it! There's plenty of rice too, and of course the cutlet is big, so it's more than filling enough! It's a set meal I'd really love anyone who's curious to try!

Mid-November 2025 Why is 'Tomakomai' read 'mai' even though it's written with the character for 'maki' (牧)? That was my question... Apparently it was originally supposed to be registered as '苫小枚', but the person who filed the registration personally liked the character '牧', so they changed it on their own and filed it that way!! What a shock to learn this fact recently! So here's the episode of a weekday lunch in Tomakomai It was a little early, so I chose from restaurants that open early for lunch ＿＿＿＿＿＿＿Daikatsu＿＿＿＿＿＿ There's plenty of parking behind the restaurant♪ I want to eat something a little unusual... Oh! This looks good♪ 【Horumon Yakisoba】 At first glance it seems like something that'd exist, but it's not exactly found everywhere, so I ordered it! Itadakimasu 🙏 Visually, a pretty dark sauce is pooled on the plate, so it gives a heavy impression But the sauce is less heavy than it looks, a nicely balanced sweet-and-salty sauce, so it's really tasty~♪ There's lots of horumon too, and horumon is a collagen-rich ingredient, so it's perfect for this season when your hands, face, and lips get all dry and cracked~♪ It's collagen, so your skin goes 'whoa, so lively'♪ While babbling nonsense like that in my head, I finished it all, thank you for the meal~🙏

First visit, for dinner on the way back from golf. There's a counter, table seats, and a raised tatami area. The counter has partitions for COVID prevention. There's plenty of hand-sanitizing alcohol both at the entrance and inside. Looking at the menu, they've got everything: set meals, rice bowls, ramen, soba and udon, curry. I ordered the pork ginger stir-fry set meal. It was served quickly. The rice portion was generous. The shredded cabbage was a little thick. The nasu nibitashi was delicious! The miso soup was loaded with ingredients, which made me happy. And it came with melon, which doubled my happiness‼️ The main pork ginger stir-fry was very delicious. What really stands out is that the rice 🍚 is very delicious. You rarely find rice this good when eating out. Delicious and very satisfying. The price is about what you'd expect. Looking at the menu prices, it's neither 'cheap!' nor 'expensive!', more like 'about what you'd expect.

I went at lunchtime on a weekday, and it was crowded. There were free seats so I didn't wait, but the staff were flustered and everything took a while. I sat at the counter, but all kinds of things had been left sitting there. I ordered the ramen and curry set, but maybe because of the ramen, the orders of customers who came after me arrived first, and I waited quite a while. The curry was surprisingly more delicious than the ramen!! The price was 1200 yen. Not cheap either! The portion is big, so it's good when you're hungry, but considering everything, it's average. In these times, it's probably hard to serve food cheaply. I think the ramen tasted average. If you go at a different time, it might be emptier and better. By the way, the parking lot is in the back.
