I wanted soba for lunch and stopped by because the location looked like a station soba shop. Considering the price, the soba definitely passes! What surprised me was that the 170円 onigiri looked almost 1.5 times the size of セ○マ’s recent handmade onigiri lol

玄 and 一茶 are affiliated, but their shops are separate. This time I went to 一茶, which mainly serves soba and udon, and had 鰻丼 for 810円. On another day I had zaru soba for 310円. The value and quality are excellent

The department store in front of the station has become an abandoned building, giving 苫小牧 a rather worrying feel. This same 苫小牧 is an iconic location for 『機動警察パトレイバー』. The famous soba-shop scene everyone loves from the old OVA version is set here. So the tourist information office sells lots of merchandise, but there is no soba shop at the station. This shop is on the 2nd floor of ふれんどビル beside 苫小牧駅 (almost directly connected). You buy a meal ticket from the machine in front of the entrance before going in. Think of a standing soba shop where you can sit down. I had the mini pork rice bowl set and was satisfied. For ５１０円, I actually started worrying whether they were doing okay. After eating, I got up and looked at the work at the counter (when I glanced over, they were making onigiri, and they looked delicious. They were the same size as, or larger than, セコマ’s in-store-made onigiri. And apparently that size costs １７０円! A little surprising, right. I’d like to try other dishes too, so I’ll definitely return. Still, can’t something be done soon about how deserted the station area is?┐(´д｀)┌Good grief
