当麻ヘルシーシャトーToma Herushiishatoo
Toma's health and welfare facility, Healthy Chateau, is 5 minutes by car from 「Toma Station」 in Hokkaido and 13 minutes by car from Asahiyama Zoo. The facility can be used for various training programs, sports camps, day services, club activities, day bathing visits, and more. It recreates authentic radium spring water qualities matching those at the source. The bathing area includes full-body baths, bubble baths, pressure-jet baths, waterfall showers, saunas, and more. The facility also has the restaurant 「北の厨房」, where you can enjoy a meal. You can also use it when visiting 「とうまスポーツランドキャンプ場」 across the way. Located at the foot of Mount Toma, where Toma's tourist facilities are concentrated, it is also recommended after working up a sweat at those attractions.

View on GoogleA hidden-gem day bathing facility in Toma I used Toma's publicly operated day bathing facility, 「ヘルシーシャトー」. It is not a natural hot spring, but its distinctive feature is water using Futamata radium mineral stones. The facility is showing its age, but it is well equipped with a sauna, waterfall shower, and jet bath, offering good value. The reception staff were polite, making the visit pleasant. Even visitors from outside the town can smoothly purchase tickets at the ticket machine, and JAF members receive a 10% discount. Having WiFi throughout is a welcome point too. The rest areas, with sofas and a large hall, are spacious, so you can relax after bathing. Massage chairs were also available. The lack of an outdoor bath is unfortunate, but considering the price, facilities, and staff quality together, this is a valuable facility in the area.
View on GoogleThis information is from my visit to 「当麻ヘルシーシャトー」 at 20251113(Thursday)20:30. I came here while looking for a hot spring near Toma Station and the roadside station. Strictly speaking, it is not a natural hot spring but an artificial one using calcareous deposits from Futamata Radium Onsen. It is part of the town's health and welfare facility opened in 1995, and also has a restaurant and a Japanese-style rest room. Although the building is 30 years old and has not undergone major renovations, it did not feel particularly old and was clean. Open 10-22 (last admission 21), adults 700円 (cash only), JAF discount available. Shoe lockers and changing-room lockers are free (no coins needed). Body soap, shampoo with conditioner, and hair dryers are provided; the soap is a budget Phoenix product, and there are 2 Panasonic Ionity hair dryers, plus a Tanita scale, an Omron blood pressure monitor, a cold-water dispenser, and ceiling fans. The baths are indoors only, with 14 mixer taps with showers, a main bath at 40℃, a low-temperature bath at 38℃, a high-temperature bath at 42℃, a jet bath for 4 people, 1 double waterfall shower, a cold bath at 17℃, a dry sauna (stone type, 2 tiers, 10 people), and 5 chairs in the relaxation area. Inside there is a rest area with sofas and a raised tatami seating and dining area. I visited late this time and food service had already ended, but it was fairly busy with local residents. Next time I would like to try the food too.
