Visited here to figure how where to start trekking. Rented bear spray for ¥1,500. We covered Mt Mokoto and Mt Hakuto. Exhausting but the astonishing views made it worthwhile

The staff were very friendly. We rented two excellent Scott mountain bikes, and they kindly kept our backpacks for the entire rental period and even afterwards while we went for a hike towards Mount Io. The center is completely new, and the museum is interesting and very well maintained.

Nice place to learn about Hokkaido, birds, bears (how to handle a bear rule number one: don't encounter the bear ;-) Also, of course, the cute algea balls. Also getting a good impression how gorgeous the landscape will look like in summer and winter - without the rain.

Arguably one of the best visitor’s centres I’ve been to in Hokkaido. Wonderfully informative and well-presented with staff who are eager to chat. The surrounding area is also beautiful, especially in autumn, and they have a café upstairs with a balcony overlooking the forest behind the building.

They have very nice🐻 replica with a cub 😀
