Great staff. English translations available. Really cool to walk the grounds and see everything still there. Would definitely recommend.

Most amazing museum. Stumbled onto it while wasting time waiting for yakiniku to be open. All about Sendai samurais who lived in this area. Husband even got to try on the samurai kit on display!!!! Truly the highlight of our trip!

poor ventilation

With the JAF discount, admission is 250円. I didn't have much time and had to rush through, so it was a shame I couldn't appreciate the exhibits at leisure, but it was wonderful to learn about the history of the Date family of the Sendai domain in Hokkaido. There are replicas of things like armor, but genuine items are also displayed and are impressive. The museum staff were also very kind and warm. In an era without trains or planes, the Date retainers came all this way from Sendai for guard duty, even if it was on the shogunate's orders. For me, that would be utterly unprecedented, so I respect them.
