I've been about 3 times from below and 10 times from above, but approaching from below really is the best. It's harder to reach than Ishikari Shiraoi Falls; negotiating the giant boulder field is the crux,
View on GoogleYou can get to the top of the waterfall by car or motorcycle, so it's easy, but mud awaits right at the very end. The top of the waterfall is slimy and slippery, so be careful not to fall. Take care to avoid accidents and injuries. I think getting to the bottom of the waterfall is probably pretty tough.
View on GoogleIf you're viewing the waterfall from above, there's a gate and you can't enter. With a car, you need to file a forest entry notification. There are rough roads, and you need to take care not to get lost. Use careful judgment before entering. It appears in Google Maps route searches, but you can't enter without permission.
View on GoogleI go every season, and it truly is a remote wilderness spot. I'll never forget the awe of standing above the waterfall for the first time. Because you have to travel along forest roads, you need to complete the forest entry procedures, open the gate, and enter. You'll probably need to research the route somewhat beforehand too. Some sections are rough, so I don't think you can reach it without an off-road vehicle. It's a troublesome place to get to, but a fantastic one.
View on GoogleThe water flow is rather low, but both the width and height are incredible. It cascades down the sheer cliffs of the Shadai Plateau. The forest road leading up was locked most of the time. I don't know the current situation, but it's certainly difficult to reach.
