“Haruranna,” located in the free-access area of Upopoy, the Symbolic Space for Ethnic Harmony, is a restaurant where you can casually enjoy delicious venison, Hokkaido lamb, Shiraoi beef, and other gourmet dishes supervised by Makoto Ishii, owner-chef of Sapporo's French restaurant “Le Musée,” which has earned a Michelin star. The name “Haruranna” refers to a celebration where kamuy (gods) and humans join together in enjoyment, calling out “Haruranna! = Food is falling!” It embodies the hope that abundant happiness and rich blessings will shower down from heaven on everyone visiting this land. At lunchtime, there are also lunch courses featuring delicious venison, Hokkaido lamb, and Shiraoi beef, ca…

The food is incredibly delicious and fresh, and the staff take great care in explaining the menu details. The presentation is beautiful, with a touch of artistry, and you can enjoy a stunning view of the Ainu Museum Park through the windows. Highly recommend visiting for lunch, then exploring the museum for a truly enriching experience!

Fantastic food in an adorable restaurant with a beautiful view. Be aware that these portions are Japanese-sized, so there might not be as much food as you're expecting. The Shiraoi beef is delicious wagyu, but how much you get for the high price is disappointing. Our waitress recommend the venison, and it was flavorful with a lovely texture. The food all comes out on a large platter, so be prepared for a family-style meal. We didn't get the pasta, but after seeing other tables get it, I wish we had. If you're visiting the Ainu museum, stop at this restaurant!

The potato soup and bread were awesome. The lamb was very chewy or dry, so unfortunately we couldn't eat it :(. The hamburger was okay. The venison sausage that came with the hamburger was nice. For 3200¥, the lamb was too expensive. For 2400¥, the hamburger was alright. On a plus side the atmosphere inside is very relaxed and nice. The plates are pretty.

I arrived at 11am and was told the first reservation was at 1:30pm. I was at the museum so that was fine but my bus (once daily) came at 2pm so I arrived 10 minutes early to make sure there was enough time to eat. My table was free and as the staff member was walking me there the chef came out and told me I had to wait the 10 (by this stage actually only 7) minutes until my reservation time. I couldn’t see a reason for this, it just seemed pedantic to me but maybe I’m missing something. I ended up without enough time to eat before the bus so lunch was a soft serve ice cream instead. Really disappointing!

I went with friends at this restaurant. At the begin I it was very cool, nice service, good atmosphere. And then the 2 dishes arrived. And that’s all, we paid 5500 yen each person the menu for juste 1 soup, and 1 dishe of meat with around 100gr of meat and a little of garnish. It’s was delicious, no doubt of that. Just for this price I was expecting to have 1 starter and 1 dessert in the menu with the appetiser and the main dish. If I had known the full menu in advance, I would have saved my money and gone to eat elsewhere for less and I would have been satisfied. There I had to eat in another establishment afterwards because I was hungry. I'm sorry but despite the quality of the meal, I cannot recommend the restaurant given the small quantities I had to eat given the price I paid. For this price, I prefer to go in a 1 star Michelin restaurant at lunch.
