I enjoyed the panorama and breathtaking view on mountains and the volcanic caldera. It’s on the way to Shikaribetsu lake.
View on GoogleOgigahara Observatory offers an amazing panoramic view of the Tokachi region, making it a must-stop for travelers exploring the road to Lake Shikaribetsu. Located along National Route 85 in Shikaoi, this observation point provides a stunning vantage of wide-open fields, rolling hills, and the picturesque landscapes that Hokkaido is famous for. Whether you’re a photographer, a nature enthusiast, or simply looking for a peaceful spot to take in the scenery, Ogigahara Observatory is the perfect place to pause and appreciate the beauty of Tokachi. Its easily accessible location along the highway makes it a convenient and rewarding stop during your journey.
View on GoogleWe heard the observatory offers great view over the Tokachi plains and even Pacific Ocean. But the day was cloudy and didn't allow us to see them all. Still, it was a good resting stop on the way to Shikaribetsu Lake. Kids had fun catching many grasshoppers and cute little beetles. There is a clean restroom as well.
