Road To Heaven

On Sept 20, 2026, a rainy day, I drove my wife along the way and I had no idea where we’re going. Then, we noticed a car in a distance ahead stopped and some people got off to take photos. My wife reckoned and we had arrived our destination and so we parked our car near the Heaven’s Café. Following others’ ritual, we took photos of a long straight road, and that’s all.

It may be hard to get a good shot with a smartphone camera, but this is a recommended photo spot. I'd like you to see this long, straight road that truly leads to the sky on a clear day. There is free parking for about 8 cars, and when I visited before noon on a weekday, I could park easily.

Compared with the observation deck earlier along the way, the view from this “starting point” a little farther on lines the road up perfectly straight ahead, and I definitely recommend it! Just as I had seen in photos, the road stretching before my eyes really goes on and on in a straight line, making an impressive sight. The way it rises and falls and seems to be drawn into the sky beyond the horizon had a sense of scale unique to Hokkaido. If you're visiting by car, don't turn back earlier—please continue all the way to this starting point, a spot with a spectacular view!

The wonderful scenery stretches out just as it looks in the photos. The observation deck is nice too, but I stopped by because I wanted to drive the entire route from the starting point to the end. It was fairly quiet, and I think it's a hidden gem.
