On 2026年7月25日, I had lunch (kaisendon) on a bus tour with 阪急交通社. It was delicious. The proprietress told us about the potatoes. My partner and I had been talking about how delicious Hokkaido potatoes are. We didn't know why they tasted so good, but the proprietress's explanation cleared that up. Thank you. We stopped here for lunch on the way back from a Shiretoko drift ice tour. According to the tour escort, there were no other places to eat around this part of vast Hokkaido. We paid the tour escort. The building looks like a gymnasium, with a shop at the entrance and a group dining area at the back. It resembles a wedding venue from a bygone era. I had the chan chan yaki set meal. The chef cooks live in one corner of the dining area. There was plenty of sliced salmon and vegetables, and the flavor was very good. The sashimi and kombu miso soup were delicious too. The proprietress is a savvy businesswoman. She explained the kombu tsukudani side dish and announced that diners could get a discount. After eating, I was won over and ended up buying some. The shop also had other standard Hokkaido souvenirs on display. The simple building and the proprietress's sales pitch conveyed how hard they were working to run a business in this northern land. It was a place I wanted to support.

I thoroughly enjoyed the chan chan yaki. As a souvenir shop, it feels somewhat small.

It was pretty good. I was still stuffed from the hotel's breakfast buffet, so I couldn't eat that much, but the accompaniments for rice were pretty good, so I bought some as souvenirs.
