A roughly 40-minute round-trip walk from the Shiretoko Nature Center takes you to an observation deck overlooking Furepe Falls. The first part of the trail passes through a dense forest, after which it opens out onto a path surrounded by grasslands. A ranger at the Nature Center warned us to be careful because brown bears are frequently seen in this area. The waterfall itself may not be the most spectacular, but the walk through the forest and grasslands, together with the beautiful views of the sea, makes thr trip well worth it.
View on GoogleIt's only 15-20 minutes from the road house to the observatory. Beautiful views if the weather is clear. Depending on how long you want to hang around and walk around, you only need to plan an hour or so round trip from the car park. Note the actual Furepe falls is a different hiking trail.
View on GoogleStunning views at the observatory deck overseeing the cliff with deers roaming freely and the mountains overhanging. It's free and to get here there is a short easy walking trail around 20 mins from the car park.
View on GoogleClose your eyes and look into the ocean. All worries and all cares of the world flies away in the wind. Enjoy the absolute peace.
View on GoogleNice short walk. We were lucky enough to catch a few deer during our visit. Tour groups come through though which can get a bit noisy. Beautiful scenery otherwise !
