We found Bon’s Home while walking back to our minshuku, as my wife wanted a drink after lunch. We visited on February 17, 2026 at around 1:30 PM. The place was quite full, but luckily a table for two became available just as we arrived. We only ordered drinks and cheesecake since we had already eaten. We got the homemade cakes combo with no-bake cheesecake and orange juice, along with a café au lait. The drinks were good, but what really stood out was the no-bake cheesecake. It was the best cheesecake we’ve tried so far. It looks like tofu, just as described on their menu, but it’s light, slightly sweet, and very delicious. We actually wanted to order another slice, but it was already sold out. If you’re visiting Utoro or Shari, it’s definitely worth stopping by to try their no-bake cheesecake. Highly recommended.

We happened upon Bon's House by pure chance and what a lucky find. The owners were pleasant and courteous. The lady also had a fair grasp of English. The food was centred around potatoes which were locally grown. We chose potato curry and potato cheese pie. Both were exquisite with a nice blend of savoury and sweet. We decided to partake in dessert, which were rum purin and sweet potato cake, again, both being delicious. If you were to go to Shiretoko I would advise for a quick visit for lunch before heading back.

Bon’s home is one of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed at. The owner is such a sweet lady and she makes your stay so comfortable. The breakfast and dinner were classic but comforting Japanese meals. The cafe is cozy and makes your feel at home. the local potatoes were the phenomenal - These potatoes were some of the best I’ve ever had (and I’ve had many varieties from different countries). If I’m lucky enough to get the chance to come back would 100% stay here again

Vegetarian friendly! We found finding veggie food in rural Japan quite the challenge so it's nice to see a very accommodating place. The potato dishes are tasty and the atmosphere is really nice. All kinds of potato based foods and deserts that are worth trying
