I hadn't been in several years, but when I visited again after a long time, the atmosphere was unchanged and it was reassuring. It's a small shop with compact tables and folding chairs, so honestly it's not a place to relax slowly; the focus is on turnover. If you prefer relaxing in a spacious tatami room, other restaurants may be better, but it has a unique atmosphere and warmth, and it has a certain set of fans. Many are bikers. The menu is very simple: only a bowl of locally caught, morning-harvested uni. It's closed on days when the sea is rough and they can't go out fishing. Seasonal Shakotan uni is sweet and can be eaten without soy sauce. First try it as is, and if you want soy sauce, add it little by little. The photos in another reviewer's post showed various menu items, and I was surprised and wondered whether the business had changed, but when I went the menu was the same as before, so it's probably a registration mistake. It seems prices rise year by year due to fuel costs and a declining uni supply; as of August 2025, the murasaki uni bowl had become 5000 yen. I haven't been able to eat bafun uni for years; you'd have to aim for first thing in the morning. In a way it's a hidden gem for those who just want to quickly eat a simple uni bowl. Parking is across from the shop, a gravel area by the roadside that fits about 3 cars, so be careful as it's not large.

Visited on July 5, 2024. I drove to Shakotan, but most of the shops were closed. The sea was rough and they hadn't been able to fish for 3 weeks. They happened to be able to fish on the 4th, and I got in by chance just as they reopened the shop after a long time. As for bafun uni, they said they hadn't seen any since the season opened, so only murasaki uni was served. Naturally, I had the raw uni bowl with a large portion of murasaki uni. I come to Shakotan once a year for a uni bowl, and this was truly a very satisfying dish. This raw uni bowl packed with the umami of uni is highly recommended. There's absolutely no fishy smell or bitterness. On top of that, they first set the nicely shaped pieces on a small plate, arrange them neatly, and then serve them, so it also looks beautiful. The staff's service was polite and their chats were funny. "This is what I want, this is exactly what I want." It was a uni bowl where I could savor uni that made me think that from the bottom of my heart. Thank you very much.

Around 9:30, I went to Shakotan to eat a uni bowl. I had scouted a few shops, but the famous Shokujidokoro Misaki had a long line. On the way toward Cape Kamui, I went to Nagisa, another shop I'd had my eye on. Parking is a few spaces across the road, and when full, at Yobetsu Fishing Port right in front. When I arrived, only one person was waiting, so I lined up, and a staff member came out and said our group would be the last, and to tell anyone who comes after that it's sold out. A biker who came after us said he had come 8 times and been told no again this time because of rough seas or sell-outs and was in despair, but the staff made a portion for our group, and since they could do one more person, he got to eat on his 9th try for the first time and was overjoyed. Recently many other shops serve uni from other regions when Shakotan uni can't be harvested, but this shop uses only completely Shakotan-caught uni. When the sea is rough and they can't fish, they don't open, so please check by phone beforehand. The menu is also only the uni bowl. This time there was no bafun, so I had murasaki uni. Soy sauce is provided, but even without anything it has a moderate saltiness and a rich, melting sweetness. Because so much effort goes into the uni, the clear soup is instant. Chatting with the auntie was fun, and it's easy to see why there are many repeat customers. This shop isn't in guidebooks, so I think it's a hidden gem. The biker who came after us said he was told about it at a local gas station. If locals recommend it, it can't be wrong. For souvenirs, they sell sun-dried botan shrimp in the shop. Very rich, and perfect as a snack with drinks.

It seems to be closed in 2026 because the owner is unwell. When I stopped early in the morning and checked the shop, the owner came out and explained. Fishing in this area seems to start on June 15, and the Shakotan uni fishing in the Bikuni area seems to have started on June 1; they taught me many things. I felt the owner wants people to eat delicious uni and sensed a difference from other shops, so I gave 5 stars. I'd like to try next time.
