Opened in May 2016. As the name suggests, this place specializes in kushikatsu, but I heard their zangi is good too, so I paid a visit. It seems they only serve lunch on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. This time I ordered the "Special Karaage Set Meal," and it came with vegetable kushiage too (yay). I think the karaage itself is fried without batter, and it has a gentle flavor. The delicacy of the kushiage also made me think, they really do good work. It's also nice that rice, miso soup, and cabbage come with free refills. The after-meal coffee was on the house, too.
View on GoogleThe kushikatsu is fried so perfectly it could be called art; it's on a level where you enjoy it more as a work than as a dish. Beneath the crispy coating, juicy ingredients lie in wait, packed with flavor. That said, it's not intimidating at all; the friendly, attentive owner has created a cozy and somehow nostalgic space. The owner seemed to have hurt their hand, so I could only have kushikatsu, but I was more than satisfied. The pickled onions that come with the free-refill cabbage are great too; they reset the greasiness, so you could keep eating as long as your money holds out. I ended up getting a ton of cabbage refills, but the kind owner didn't make a face at all and actually encouraged me to have more, which saved me (lol) It's a great restaurant, good enough that I want to come back once I've saved up some money again. P.S. I sense a strong Hanshin Tigers spirit from the owner.
View on GoogleA really delicious kushikatsu shop. It's such a shame they're relocating.
