The Hokkaido University Museum is a fascinating free-admission museum located on the campus of Hokkaido University. The museum spans three floors and features a diverse collection covering the university's history, science, and natural heritage. The first floor focuses on the university’s origins, its founders, and the development of the institution. The upper exhibition areas showcase a wide range of subjects, including zoology, geology, dermatology, and other scientific fields, making it an interesting place to explore even if you are not a science enthusiast. The building itself is beautiful, with a distinctive Gothic-style architectural design that adds to its charm. Allow about one hour to walk through the exhibits at a relaxed pace. Overall, it's a great place to learn something new while enjoying one of the most historic buildings on campus.
View on GoogleThe dinosaur exhibit was wonderful for kids! The entire museum is in Japanese, but we didn’t mind! They also have a free stamp hunt for children that my children (6 & 9) loved! Great cafe with ice cream too. Admission is free.
View on GoogleVisited in July recently. Not a large museum but have enough and varied displays from various faculties of the university. Celebrating their 150th year and wishing it many more!
View on GoogleImpressive huge, very organised and well maintained University with loads of trees & nature settings despite being so close to Sapporo city
View on GoogleIt’s a super great museum it doesn’t have that much English so be prepared to either translate or to know Japanese in advance. The compass is always super clean and pretty and also there is a lot of shops around and the museum was pretty big. It has a lot of rooms that they have three floors, you also have a Stamp Quest if you are interested to get them all but it was for free and honestly you also had mini games you could do while going around so it’s a good museum honestly for museum lovers I recommended 100%.
