If you want to enjoy an exquisite soba lunch in Nishi 11-chome, visit "Teuchi Soba Rutin". Our soba dipping sauce combines dashi made from freshly shaved katsuobushi with "kaeshi" aged for three weeks, then aged further to a mellow finish. Through this carefully crafted process, we make a soba sauce that is easy to enjoy for a wide range of ages. We serve soba hand-made every morning using buckwheat flour from Hokuryu Town and Hokkaido wheat. We also serve alcohol, so you can use us for banquets. We also have L-shaped counter seats, so feel free to drop in even on your own. We look forward to seeing you.

Super delicious Japanese soba. Walking distance from Royton Hotel. They offer set lunch also dinner course menu. Value for money, I love their cold soba. They have cold soba with tempura set. The tempura is good too. Give it a try, you won't regret. 😋😋😋

The waiter was straight out of 1960’s Greenwich Village, and very cool and personable. The music was great. We went in and had to wait 5 minutes for a table. We were lured in by the set lunch but were told it was off the menu. So the only option was curry and rice. It was fine, but nothing special. What was odd about this place were all the “rules”. There is a sign on the table that roughly translated stated: “To our customers, please do not take pictures of the inside of the store and work with the computer. Set the etiquette mode of your mobile phone, please make calls outside. You can only take pictures of your hand. Please keep 1 or 2 sheets short. The volume of the conversation should be modest. Customers who have been using it for more than 2 hours are required to order additional drinks. Please be considerate of your surroundings so that you can spend your time comfortably.” Added to these were graphics banning the use of any electronic equipment at all. So we couldn’t use our devices - and seeing as how I need one to communicate with my mate who is deaf - it was a pain. I’m sure that they would have allowed us to if we’d explained the situation, but it begs the question why the need for some many restrictions on your guests? Anyway, on the basis that their rules meant I couldn’t talk with my companion, we won’t be returning again.

I ordered the cold shrimp tempura tanuki soba with thick-cut country-style soba. 1,350 yen. The shop has 6 counter seats and 6 table seats, I think? Maybe a mix of 2-person and 4-person tables? I went in around 11:20. It had only been open 20 minutes, but the tables were already full. Some customers were sitting alone at tables, perhaps because they don't like counters. The counter, made of laminated ash or sen wood, had just one customer already there. I was seated at the corner. I happened to have a Saturday off so I could come, but since they're closed on Sundays I won't be able to come next time, so rather than playing it safe with morisoba, I took a little adventure and went with the cold shrimp tempura tanuki. Looking at the menu, there are so many things that I found myself thinking about taking a weekday off to come. The menu is small, though, which is rather hard on presbyopic eyes. I requested the country-style thick noodles, which you wolf down. The topping is one large shrimp (I don't think it's kuruma ebi), one tempura of green beans (cowpea), nori, and grated daikon. You pour the broth over it and mix it all up messily to eat. The condiments are rather refined. There's only a little green onion, and once you pour the broth over and mix, you can't tell where it went. A cut with a bit more presence might have been nice. Well, I suppose cutting the green onion differently for each menu item would be a hassle? The bowl looked small, but it filled me up quite a bit. The soba-yu comes in a square yuto (a slightly large one), which stays warm longer since it's large. I poured it generously into the leftover broth and it was great. Also, the water glass served first was large and lovely.
