たまや食堂 すすきのTamaya Shokudo Susukino

Syokudo and Teishoku restaurant

★ 4.310 reviews

A teishoku restaurant where you can enjoy set meals made with fresh fish and vegetables purchased first thing in the morning, even late at night. Along with familiar grilled fish like salmon and hokke, we also offer fish you rarely get the chance to eat, such as tsubodai and matoudai. We await you with a lineup of comforting set meals, including grilled fish, sashimi, and stir-fried vegetables. Right in the heart of Susukino, it's a place where you can have a proper meal even late at night.

Visited Tamaya Shokudo Susukino. A teishoku place that suddenly popped up right in the middle of Susukino. A teishoku place open at this hour is the best. I want to try all sorts of things!

At 11:30 p.m., after work, I casually dropped by Tamaya Shokudo. The atmosphere that welcomes you warmly even at this hour is comforting. The sashimi set I ordered was fresher than I expected, with thick-cut tuna and salmon full of umami. The rice was cooked just right, and the miso soup had a good dashi flavor that was soothing. Simple yet carefully made, dish by dish, it was truly satisfying even late at night. The vibe makes it easy to go in alone, and it's a place I'd like to rely on for late meals.

I was looking for a place to have an early-morning set meal and found that this place is open until 9 a.m., so I stopped by a little after 6 a.m. The hokke set (1500 yen) came with half a hokke. Plus 2 pieces of karaage. Then miso soup, tofu, and macaroni salad. Honestly, I didn't think such a small hokke existed in Sapporo. The wakame in the miso soup was probably the dried kind. The rice was cooked with Susukino water. The taste overall was ordinary. The floor is on basement level 1, and I had a pocket Wi-Fi but it didn't work at all. There was an incredibly noisy place on the same floor, and the blasting music from there plus the rowdy voices of customers who were nicely drunk echoed everywhere, making me realize once again that this is Susukino. Thinking I could eat calmly in the morning was a big mistake. The restaurant itself also had its door wide open, so the noise carried in and it felt even less relaxing. In contrast to that noise, both staff members at the restaurant seemed composed and calm, which left a good impression.
