Their kaisendon selection is amazing, with bowls loaded with some of the freshest seafood you can imagine. Think fresh salmon, rich fatty tuna, sweet scallops, creamy sea urchin, and glistening salmon roe, all served over perfectly seasoned rice. The sea urchin was unbelievably sweet and creamy, and the salmon roe was plump, juicy, and bursting with flavor in every bite. If kaisendon isn’t your thing, they have plenty of other tasty options too. Ordering is easy through a QR code, and there’s a self-service station with drinks and complimentary soup, which was a nice bonus.

I want to caveat this review by saying this is purely based on my own preferences and system of value for food - this place offers a variety of different seafood and kaisen don for approximately 2500 yen and upwards. They have self serve water, oolong tea and crab miso soup. There was nothing specifically wrong with this restaurant, service was pleasant and the food was decent - but for me, I feel like the value for the food that I could get in Japan has been much higher at other places I've tried. Overall, it is a popular, highly rated place for a reason - but for me, it doesn't pass my personal value test.

Good place for sushi and sashimi - prime location as well. We ordered a set (7 types) sashimi, fatty tuna bowl, and crab bowl. Sashimi dish is great! The fatty tuna bowl is really good and easy to eat. The crab bowl is not too good but it's probably my taste not liking cold crab meat. We also visited a second time for sukiyaki hot put - it's a good value meal.

My last meal in Sapporo! I wanted to have a really satisfying sashimi feast one last time. There were so many menu options! Lots of fresh sashimi rice bowls. I wanted to really indulge in shellfish, so I ordered a scallop and crab meat rice bowl, and a five-variety sashimi platter. I ate until I was completely full! It was so satisfying. The shellfish was amazing, everything was delicious. There were so many different dipping sauces on the table, including Thai seafood dipping sauce. #sapporo #sashimi #seafood

Kaisendon, a seafood bowl, is a very famous dish in Sapporo. It was definitely the first thing we ate when we arrived. Just look at the picture, no explanation needed, right?! The seafood was fresh and clean, it was spot on! Even the white rice was delicious. The complimentary self-serve soup came in two varieties. The service was nice and friendly. We could eat kaisendon every day! #oishii
