What a find - fantastic soba restaurant just round the corner from where we are staying. It’s a one man band place so don’t expect a rapid food delivery but that only adds to its charm. Good array of drinks with a solid craft beer selection. Things to note: the owner/chef speaks a little bit of English but the menu is only in Japanese. Cash only Edit: Came back for a second meal which doesn’t happen often when traveling - shows how good this place is

Small but cosy place for authentic handmade soba or udon. Run by just a friendly owner himself, hence can be a bit slow but worth the wait.

I visited without a reservation around 12 on a weekday. There were about 10 customers already, and the restaurant was about 80% full, but I was shown to a seat without waiting. It was run by 2 people: a chef who appeared to be the owner and a young female staff member. Since it was lunchtime, they looked quite busy. Because of the layout, you can hear their exchanges too, so I recommend allowing a little extra time when visiting during busy periods. There were several menu items I was curious about, but I was told 「they will take some time」, so this time I ordered cold 地どりそば. I thought soba alone might arrive relatively quickly, but it took about 20 minutes to be served. The soba had a refined, gentle flavor. The local chicken's savoriness came through clearly too, and I enjoyed it. The portion felt a little modest, so next time I'll ask for a large serving. Looking around, many regulars were leisurely waiting for their soba while enjoying alcohol and individual dishes. I felt that was the characteristic way to spend time at this restaurant. Next time, I'd like to visit on a day when I have plenty of time and try a variety of things, including the individual dishes.
