It has a good location in the city center, but my schedule rarely works out. Still, it is a soba place I want to visit regularly. You can try stone-milled soba from various regions and compare both ni-hachi and juwari soba. Both the aroma and the way it goes down are impeccable; there are not many places that serve soba like this! The sobayu at the end has a strong presence too, making it even more satisfying. Since the move, I have only visited for lunch, but next time I would like to enjoy some snacks and drinks again after so long!
View on GoogleLunch at 『蕎麦 ひとすじ』. (Previously operated in すすきの under the name 『蔵美庭/クラビティ』) I ordered 「十割せいろ大盛り」 and added sakura shrimp snack tempura and spicy daikon. ・ I was told that 「十割せいろ」 uses the Kitawase variety from 中標津. When I dipped the medium-thick noodles into the soba sauce, they had the grainy texture of coarsely milled soba, and chewing them released the flavor of the buckwheat flour. The sauce had the umami of properly matured 「kaeshi」 and felt like something from an authentic soba shop. ・ The purple spicy daikon has a sharp pungency, but its umami comes through more strongly. It leaves my stomach feeling refreshed after the meal, so I often order it in summer or when hungover. The sakura shrimp tempura felt more like loose shrimp fried without batter than kakiage, so I tossed it into the soba dipping cup and slurped it together with the noodles. The little shrimp shells had a fragrant flavor, and I wished there had been a bit more. ・ The sobayu was thick, as if buckwheat flour had been mixed with the boiling water from the pot. There was little dipping sauce left, so it was a bit of a shame that I could not properly dilute the umami of the 「kaeshi」.
View on GoogleVisited for lunch at 14. Ordered hiyashi tanuki at the counter. The soba was very refined and extremely delicious. The sobayu was exceptional too, unlike anything you would normally get elsewhere✨ Of course I finished everything😋 But somehow I could not relax. The kitchen is right in front of the counter, extremely close. Although it is called a counter, only about 4 people can sit there. It feels something like a drinking place. The chef-owner talks a lot. I did not feel like returning. A disappointing place despite the delicious food.
View on GoogleA soba shop near 大通. They stay open until the soba runs out, so it was often already closed when I went in the evening, but I finally managed to visit at lunchtime. It was a hot day, so I ordered two servings of hiyakake (with sudachi). Perhaps because it was kake, the two servings arrived in two bowls. And each had soba from a different region. Kyoto and Fukui, if I remember correctly. As expected of juwari soba, it had a strong buckwheat flavor while still going down smoothly, and it was delicious. Somehow, when comparing them, I personally felt the Kyoto soba had a stronger buckwheat flavor and preferred it. They put a lot of care into their soba, so if you like soba, I think it is worth a visit.
View on GoogleA stylish, slightly unusual? soba shop. You can choose from 3 types: cold 「ae」 with sauce and soba together in a bowl, 「mori」, and warm 「kake」. The photo is just 「ae」. Green onions, wasabi, and tempura crumbs all have to be selected as toppings, and since I added nothing, it looks a bit bare. The soba is on the thin side, the sauce is not very sweet, and the portion is not large (apparently about 200g, so a typical serving for 1 person). The soba itself was delicious, but I personally prefer it a bit sweeter. Considering the hassle of ordering various toppings and the questionable value, I felt I might go if I really wanted soba and no other places were open⋯💦 It might be better for evening drinks, when you want to eat soba while drinking sake⋯.
