•One of my favorite things in Sapporo: the lovely view of the city from the TV tower, esp during sunset! •Despite being cloudy when I visited, the sky was still really pretty ✨ •There is a fee and it allows you to enter once and stay there as long as you want. It’s a perfect way to spend hours just soaking the beautiful view. They also have binoculars and interactive observatory corners. •There are few seats on the top. Gets crowded at times. They also sell souvenirs, and ice cream. •Staff are very nice and accommodating. Toilets are on the ticketing area, so best to use them before going up.

A beautiful viewpoint over the city of Sapporo. It is high enough to give an excellent panoramic view, but not so high that poor weather completely ruins the experience—although in heavy fog it probably would not be worthwhile. One of the most striking things is seeing how Sapporo is surrounded by green mountains that almost seem to define the boundaries of the city. It is also wonderful to look down along the long lines of Odori Park and understand the basic layout of the city from above. You can see the smaller waterways, the canal on the other side, the fish market, and many other details. The whole city feels as though it is laid out in the palm of your hand, yet you are still close enough to appreciate individual buildings, streets, and neighborhoods. The admission price is very reasonable. There are designated photo spots, but you can also simply walk around the observation level and enjoy the view from different angles. There is also a small souvenir shop. Since this observation point is located directly along one of the main routes through central Sapporo, there is really very little reason to miss such an attractive and iconic view of the city.

Pretty good views on a clear day. Thankful to get in during golden week. Plenty of souvenirs and places to grab photos. Also take note of the 5 stamps throughout the building (B1, 3F and top floor). Results in a single pretty stamp. Also took advantage of the ¥100 discount for the soft serve ice cream at the base of the tower. I’d recommend buying tickets in advance.

Standing at the eastern terminus of Odori Park (Nishi 1-chome), the Sapporo TV Tower (さっぽろテレビ塔) was built in 1957 and designed by renowned architect Tachu Naito, who also designed Tokyo Tower and Tsutenkaku. Total Height: 147.2 meters. As central Sapporo's most prominent landmark, it functions not only as a broadcast transmission tower, but also as the premier vantage point overlooking the linear green axis of Odori Park and its seasonal festivals. Situated 90.38 meters above ground, the Observation Deck is accessible in about 60 seconds via an exterior transparent sightseeing elevator. Another highlight of Sapporo TV Tower, is the Digital Clock. Located approximately 65 meters up, the tower sports illuminated four-sided electronic digital clocks (sponsored by Panasonic), serving as a daily timekeeping landmark for Sapporo residents.

The Sapporo TV Tower did not disappoint! The view was magnificent, as we got to see the sunset. The little telescope at the top was very cool, as it allows you to see the skyline of Sapporo much clearer. There were also adorable shops and stands with little keepsakes, souvenirs, and stuffed animals, especially of the shima enaga, Hokkaido’s snow fairy bird. If you are in Sapporo, looking for a great place to make unforgettable memories, I would definitely recommend visiting this place.
