Our timing couldn’t be more perfect when we randomly visited a day before the actual opening to find them moving art pieces into the gallery. We were advised to return the next day. We did and were not disappointed. The gallery exhibit space is huge with 2 floors with multiple rooms showing students under-21 art work this time. Amazing collection with some more refined than others, with subject matter ranging from dark to light, from adult to fetish, but each piece with its own beauty and a glimpse into the mind of the Japanese youth. Breathtaking. Shiok. Nearest station is Bus Center Mae and take exit 10.

Great place for local artists to display their work

This was my first visit. There is no dedicated parking lot, so I had trouble finding an available parking space. I came this time because Masumi Miyatake's “Kokoro no Furusato Ningyo-ten” doll exhibition was being held. The rooms inside aren't particularly large. I was surprised by how many visitors there were. There was also somewhere to have light meals.

Japan travel: Sapporo Citizens Gallery 札幌市民ギャラリー is a small art museum in central Sapporo. Numerous exhibitions, including open competitions, are held here throughout the year. As an art museum for Sapporo residents, it displays paintings, calligraphy, sculptures, crafts, and other works created through residents' everyday artistic activities, and many people use it as a place to present and appreciate artwork.

I've only visited for Doten, but it's a lovely, clean gallery. There are several parking lots nearby, so it's convenient to visit by car too.
