I spent a long time deciding which ramen shop to eat at in Susukino, Sapporo. Finally, I chose this one because the wait wasn't long. The shop seats less than 10 people, but it wasn't cramped at all. I ordered the Sapporo Miso Ramen for 990 yen. The wait wasn't long. The miso soup here is excellent; the flavor is rich and authentic, just the way I like it. My only criticism is that the wavy noodles were a bit too firm. I'm not sure if they were undercooked or if that's the style here. That's my only complaint; everything else was great. It was delicious, but the ramen noodles were a little too firm.
View on GoogleTrying miso ramen in Sapporo felt like a must, and visiting this shop gave me a very authentic experience that I think both locals and tourists would appreciate. When I arrived for an early dinner, there was already a short line forming outside. What stood out to me was that most of the customers were Japanese, which is usually a good sign that a place is well-loved locally. Despite the queue, the wait didn’t take long especially since I was dining solo, which made it easier to be seated quickly. The setup is quite simple and straightforward. Seating is counter-style, so it’s more of an “eat and go” kind of place rather than somewhere you linger for long conversations. Ordering is done through a ticket vending machine: you insert your yen, select your order, and hand the ticket to the staff. It might feel a bit unfamiliar at first, but it’s actually very efficient once you get the hang of it. Plus there’s an English translation. I ordered the Special Original Miso Ramen, and the serving size immediately caught my attention. The bowl was large, and the toppings were generous enough that I actually struggled to finish everything. For someone like me who isn’t usually a fan of miso ramen, this was a pleasant surprise. I genuinely enjoyed the flavor. The broth had a rich, comforting depth without being overwhelming. I also noticed that some customers add sweet corn and butter to enhance the taste, which is a popular way to enjoy Sapporo-style ramen. Personally, I’d recommend trying the original version first before customizing, especially if it’s your first time. If there’s anything to note, it would be the limited space. The shop is quite small, and the entrance door seemed a bit difficult to operate when I visited. However, these are minor details compared to the overall experience. Overall, this is a solid choice if you want to try authentic miso ramen in Sapporo. It’s simple, filling, and true to its roots. Definitely worth a visit.
View on GoogleI tried a different take on Sapporo miso ramen at Sapporo Ramen Kifuh in Susukino, and the ginger gave it a nice warming kick. The noodles were classic and the meat was really tender, which made the bowl easy to enjoy. It was worth the long wait in the freezing Sapporo night, even if that line was rough.
View on Googlemight wonder if it’s really worth waiting in line for over an hour. But in my opinion, it absolutely is. Unfortunately, since I live overseas, I can't come here very often. Still, whenever I stay in Sapporo and have the time, this is one of the ramen shops I always visit. Waiting in line during winter can be tough, but if you're visiting Sapporo in the summer, I highly recommend it to my Vietnamese friends and fellow international travelers.
View on GoogleHotel recommended this ramen restaurant which was nearby. It is a tiny 8 seater and luckily I didn't have to queue on a cold night. I believe during peak hour the wait could be very long. It seems a lot of famous people come to dine as the wall was covered with autographs. Order your fod at the vending machine on your left at entry before sitting. I had the traditional miso ramen with springy wheat noodles, the accompanying soup was earthy, very flavourful and rich. I also enjoyed the thinly sliced pork belly, soft boiled egg and bamboo shoots, a very nourishing meal. You can order a paper bib to protect your clothes, which proved really handy. Dress warm as with the entry door opening and closing frequently, you get drafts of cold air.
