「ラーメン櫻島（さくらじま）」 is located along Kita 1-jo–Miyanosawa-dori in Nishino, Nishi Ward. Established in 1994, during what is considered Sapporo's “second generation of ramen,” it is a restaurant with a long history. As its name suggests, it serves 「鹿児島」-style ramen, a rare type in Sapporo. Its signature 櫻島ラーメン features a gently flavored soup combining “paitan broth” made from pork knuckle bones and chicken carcasses with “Japanese-style dashi.” It also pairs well with the smooth, straight noodles. I had extremely high hopes for this shop after all the really good things I had read. Unfortunately it isn't what it was hyped up to be at all. The broth was lacking any special taste with the bowl over flowing. The pork at first taste was juicy and thick until my partner and i realised how much fat it contained compared to the the meat. I've tried countless bowls all over japan and this place has been by far the most disappointing for the hype it had behind it
