This was lunch a little while ago. I visited らーめん 蘭 in Shinoro, Kita Ward. It's one of the places I'd been curious about after seeing it on social media and Tabelog♪ This time I had shoyu katsu ramen. I also asked for rice. The first thing that came out looked funny, with a big katsu sitting right on top🤣 The soup was simple, but had a pronounced soy sauce flavor that I liked, and was delicious😋 When eating the katsu, first of all the meat was delicious. The flavor after it soaked up the soup was delicious too😋 So it went well with rice. They also have a shio version I'm curious about, so I'd like to come again. 【蘭（あららぎ）】 is a little-known, secluded ramen spot on the outskirts of Sapporo, usually open on alternate Saturdays and Sundays. You turn into a narrow one-way road that even neighbors pass by, then go deeper into what seems like an industrial area? and find it in a “Why here⁉️” location. In an open clearing, the restaurant looks like a wooden hut (reminding me of my grandparents' house in a provincial city long ago) or a log cabin. Old-fashioned, but neat and clean-looking. I arrived at noon on a summer Saturday. It was lively with several groups of regulars, but there was still room, and I could sit down immediately. Inside is larger than it looks from outside, with a long counter seating at least 10, 2 tables seating 4–6, and tatami seating for 6, so they accommodate families with small children too. The staff smiled and were kind to our child (1 year old). I ordered shoyu katsu ramen (with a complimentary small rice). It arrived in about 10 minutes. It's what you'd call old-fashioned ramen. A freshly fried katsu sits boldly on top. A fragrant yet gentle soy sauce aroma wafts up with the steam. The first bite of katsu was already delicious. The texture of the crispy parts and the parts softened by soaking in the soup. The absorbed soup flavor matched the meat's fat, immediately delivering the flavor I want from katsu ramen😋 The soup isn't overcomplicated, with a clean, old-fashioned taste. If you want a rich, substantial meal, you might find it lacking, but I recommend it to people who like balanced, comforting flavors. The noodles weren't the curly noodles of Sapporo ramen. But they weren't straight either, more in between. They matched the soup and were delicious😊 Finding a winning ramen spot on the outskirts like this—Sapporo is interesting👍

Since this season's opening period was ending, I hurried over. Last time I had the ramen and fried rice set, but this time I ordered the most popular katsu ramen with small rice. As the name says, it's simply ramen topped with tonkatsu, but the ramen is simple, old-fashioned and delicious. I prefer this to today's overcomplicated ramen with all sorts of things going on. The katsu was freshly fried too, and I finished it with the rice in no time. Apparently the grandmother is elderly, so it may depend on her health, but I sincerely hope they open again next year.
