It's an easy mountain to climb, but… Even climbing slowly from ふれあいの森, it's about 2 hours round trip. However, there are many signs of bears. I don't think you should underestimate it just because it's a low mountain. Be fully equipped!
View on GoogleThere are lots of routes, and going all the way to 月寒台 and back is quite a distance. Just right for a walk to build fitness. There are plenty of toilets, too, so that's reassuring.
View on GoogleI reached the summit for the first time. I climbed from the ふれあいの森 side. The trail was mostly leveled, with no steep slopes, so I reached the summit before I even felt like I was climbing a mountain. I thought it might be ideal for a first hiking experience with children. Sneakers are fine, but be prepared for lots of insects. The only part of this route that felt steep and tough was when I took a side trail and climbed the roughly 200m path toward 「展望四阿(てんぼうあずまや)」. It's an easy mountain to climb❗️
View on GooglePerhaps this is one of the better-known mountains in 札幌, partly thanks to 「白旗山競技場」. This mountain has many routes and lots of junctions, so I think some routes can be easy to get lost on. I climbed via the 真栄 route. The road is paved up to the parking lot. Past the parking lot, it becomes a wide forest road, but keep going. Turn left at the junction and climb a fairly steep slope to reach the summit. Work vehicles sometimes use the forest road, so please be careful. To reach the 真栄 entrance route by public transport, apart from seasonal bus stops, take the 福87 bus, get off at 「アンデルセン福祉村1丁目」, and head toward 白旗山競技場. However, only some 福87 buses stop at 「アンデルセン福祉村1丁目」, and services are very infrequent, so using 「白旗山競技場入口」, served by both 福87 and 大87 buses, is also a good option.
View on GoogleIt's a good mountain close to central 札幌, with fun to be had in both summer and winter. There are steep slopes, too, so snowshoe hikes and sledding are recommended in winter. In winter, snow makes parking difficult, so there's room for only 2 or 3 cars. If you can't park, your only option is to clear the snow yourself, so bring a shovel.
