This is the sister shop of a Tokyo Ikebukuro coffee shop/ roaster where I love going, so I was super happy to find Mermaid in Sapporo too! They have put as much attention to the choice and quality of coffee beans and how they make your coffee. Pour over is their specialty and they are very good at it. It is equal to the Ikebukuro branch. They are both great. The staff is also super nice, it was fun to chat with them in my bad Japanese... I could not resist the geisha from Colombia, but hesitated between an Ethiopian vs a double fermentation aroma nativo from Colombia as the 2nd coffee choice... difficult life decisions 😂😂. The decor is unique and quite interesting. True coffee lovers' paradise!
View on GoogleAmazing offee roaster with a clear passion for quality. The beans were expertly roasted, bringing out rich aromas and well-balanced flavors without any bitterness. Every cup of tasted fresh and highlighted the unique characteristics of the coffee. The drip coffee was equally impressive—clean, smooth, and full of flavor with a pleasant sweetness and a crisp finish. It was brewed with great care, allowing the natural notes of the beans to shine through. The café also had a welcoming atmosphere, and the staff were knowledgeable, friendly, and happy to recommend coffees based on personal preferences. For anyone who appreciates specialty coffee and drip coffee, this is a Must-Go! Highly recommendes and I'll definitely be coming back to try more of their single-origin selections some time soon!
View on GoogleI was so excited to find Mermaid Coffee Roasters in Sapporo! Obviously a popular destination, there was a constant queue. Inside the spacious cafe high ceiling, it was furnished very quirkyly. A large moose head hangs from the top of the ceiling and everywhere in the cafe are white ceramics of bears and lions littered. Of course, one of a mermaid sits at the entry. Bunches of dried flowers hang from the rafters as well giving it a feel of modern and homey. Coffee didn't let me down at all although it took a while for staff to understand my request for a three quarter latte. 😀 I even got to chat to a staff who was in Sydney for a year last year! It was altogether a satisfying and enjoyable experience.
View on GoogleA gorgeous little spot right on the Tanuki Koji walking street! The espresso shot pulled from their Fruity blend was absolutely delicious—bright, well-balanced, and expertly crafted. It paired perfectly with a really nice chocolate scone. Great vibes and friendly service all around. Just a heads-up that you might have to queue up when it gets busy, but it’s absolutely worth the wait.
View on GoogleLooking for coffee but did not plan to go this place. Surprisingly the coffee is good. Service is good as well. I took the seat at second floor, need to remove shoes. Upstairs deco is nice and relax. Ordered the cake/scone, dry and hard.
