The view was really nice, but so surprised though since its located on the hill. A bit difficult and confusing to go by using public transport, so I took a taxi from maruyama. The food were not bad. The cafe is not really big, so I don't think it's a nice place to sit for a long time although the atmosphere really invites us to do so. Great experience anyway.

I went to a café recommended by Menya Kisano, a popular ramen shop in Sapporo's Soen area. It's Maruyama CAFE Sakanoue in Maruyama Nishimachi. Today was right after a temporary closure and day off, and with a ramen-shop mindset I tried to be the first in line (PP), arriving 20 minutes early. But after climbing a pretty brutal slope, someone was already there. The parking lot fits 3 cars, but it's very tight — you pull in nose-first and then back and forth to turn around. It was fun. Inside, I was shown to a window counter seat, where a giant Snoopy was sitting. And the view of the hills and the city of Sapporo was stunning — I imagined the autumn leaves here must be incredible. What I ordered... ◾︎Shrimp, tomato and cheese cream sauce with homemade baguette gratin ・Homemade lemonade soda Drink set ¥2100 ◾︎Orange and chocolate mousse parfait ¥1300 I went for the greedy Sakanoue combo. The baguette gratin came out incredibly fast, which surprised me. It was bubbling hot and smelled of shrimp. It's apparently an Américaine sauce made from grilled shrimp heads and shells, and mixed with the shrimp and bread, my cheeks fell off and went missing. They also use a lot of additive-free cheese, and my legs were wobbly, like a newborn fawn. The salad had chickpeas, which I love — I felt like I was being wined and dined. It was gone in no time. A great view, a calming atmosphere, and tasty food — I want to shout it out loud: café meals are the best! After the meal, those two (the lemonade and the parfait) arrived... Oh, here they come — this is dangerous, it was just too beautiful. The pickled lemons packed into the lemonade glass can be eaten rind and all, and they were pickled just right. The lemonade with its gentle acidity was soft and kind too. ◾︎Orange and chocolate mousse parfait The parfait consists of... Orange sorbet Earl Grey gelato Crème d'Anjou Marinated orange Tapioca jelly Citrus tuile Chocolate mousse Caramelized almonds Homemade cookie Orange with peel Whipped cream Lemon meringue It greets you with an apple-shaped chocolate mousse. Right from the start the orange sorbet does a great job, mingling with everything. The layers are quite fine and it was fun to eat. At the bottom is tapioca jelly — a merry-go-round of textures that made a fitting finale. I got some nice photos, had a great time, and left very satisfied. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

On a weekday around 3 PM, several cafés in this area were closed, so I searched on Google for one that was open and visited for the first time. The parking lot had space. The plants at the entrance were so stylish that I stopped in my tracks. The in-store displays, plates, and everything were lovely. On top of that, the food was stylish and delicious, somehow different from typical places! The owner was lovely, handling both cooking and service alone. I couldn't have dessert this time, so I'd like to order it next time. If you're going by car, carpooling is a good idea!
