マルハのカルビ丼Maruha's Galbi Don
Just a 1-minute walk from Kita 18-jo Station! A holy land of Hokkaido-grown "meat" that has continued to be loved by Hokkaido University students. Since opening, 『Maruha no Kalbi-don 18-jo Branch』 has filled the stomachs of many students and locals. What we are particular about is, above all, our super-fresh kalbi-don made lavishly with Hokkaido-grown Saibi beef and Rusutsu pork. The meat, grilled over high heat all at once after you order, has an exquisite taste with the aroma of charcoal fire and secret sauce that whets the appetite. Seasonal limited menus such as "Hiyashi Gyumen" (cold beef noodles) in summer and "Kalbi-don-ya's Ramen" in winter are also very popular. Please enjoy our overwhelming meat power and value at our station-front shop!

Not sure why the bad reviews complain about the rice…it’s very clear on the menu that the prices represent the amount of rice not meat. With that said, this is a solid place for simple grilled meats over charcoal. Also good to know it’s all domestic meat considering the reasonable price point. I also found the young staff very friendly.
View on GoogleWe stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant. The karubi don is out of this world, I had to order a second helping because it was so good. English menus are provided and note that it’s cash only.
View on GoogleExcellent comfort during a cold showy night... Thumbs up! Rice portion is BIG. So better to go with more beef/pork, and add egg and cabbage.
View on GoogleThe photos look amazing so we wanted to try it out. Unfortunately the meal was very mediocre, not as high quality as every other meal we’ve had in Japan. I ordered the premium rib bowl. The meat was flavored well but both fatty and tough in texture rather than being tender. Cabbage topping was only shredded raw cabbage added in the bowl. The rice to meat quantity was way out of proportion. Miso soup was just ok; I’ve had better at every other restaurant. If the premium bowl is their best one, that doesn’t say much for this restaurant.
View on GoogleThe beef and pork bowl was very tasty. Even the smallest size had a good portion. Would have been 5/5 but they allow smoking indoors and have no air filter. I was there for 30 minutes and my hair stinks!! Also no English menu available but there was a server who spoke limited English. With my limited Japanese we got my order with ease!
