You go around from the outside rather than entering the 芸術の森 grounds. But when I went, it was closed. When I asked around, I was told it opens irregularly, when there are exhibitions. According to the web, there seems to have been an exhibition in March 2022, but perhaps there haven't been any since. Also, the neighboring car business, whose building collapsed under accumulated snow, is renting some space here.

It's set in wonderful scenery full of natural beauty. Traditional crafts of the Ainu people are also on display.

Many of you may already know, but a long time ago this was Hudson's research laboratory. The tunnel that the steam locomotive used to run through is still there too.

It's a quiet place.
