The halal ramen at Horyu’s flagship store is the main reason I keep returning to Sapporo. It remains my all-time favorite, and I was thrilled to find it tastes just as incredible as it did years ago. To avoid the long queues, I made sure to arrive right at opening time. Their spicy broth is the ultimate comfort food for a snowy Hokkaido day! Despite the restaurant being packed, the staff was extremely efficient and professional. I will definitely be back again.

Ordered Spicy Miso Ramen. Ramen cooked to al-dante. The salt and spicy level is very good controlled and is acceptable by most people. Did not order large but came out quite full. Try it!

We tried their muslim friendly genghis khan miso ramen and we loveeeeee it! Good taste of spices, beef so tender, generous portion and their staff are really welcoming. I just love how they keep the restaurant in a classic japanese vibes.

Absolutely fantastic experience. First off, if you’re planning to come here, be prepared to wait outside, this restaurant opens only 5 days a week and only for 5 hours. If you have the chance to sit at the counter, do yourself a favor and set aside your phone for a couple of minutes to admire how the kitchen is working. There are 3 chefs and 1 waiter, each one responsible for one part of the ramen : broth, noodles and toppings/side dish, if you take time to observe you might notice a difference of speed in execution by each one of them, and you can see the degree of mastery they each have in their craft. I was sitting near the chef who was preparing the broth, and watching him adding the ingredients one by one, using a small saucer to taste, adding a bit of some ingredient, then removing a leaf from the pot, then taste, adjusting the recipe until he was satisfied with the taste, was like watching a TV show. All that while communicating with the other members to synchronize the meal preparation. The broth he was making was serving multiple portions, meaning that by the time he was done the noodles needed to be ready and hot, so are the toppings which are different for each customer. I was also sitting near the waiter “spot” where she was handling the drinks and the service, she was full of energy, running everywhere doing multiples things at once, and the contrast between her and the elder chef was really nice to watch. A really nice show to enjoy before getting the meal. Once the meal is served, a simple sip from the broth and you start understanding why there are so many people waiting outside, not only customers coming for the Muslim menu, but almost half the restaurant were locals coming for the non-muslim menu. The restaurant is Muslim Friendly (not a halal restaurant) meaning they source certified halal meat that they serve for Muslim Friendly meals. As mentioned by other reviewers, in this kind of setup there is a risk of contamination, the risk is similar to any burger fast food that serves seafood burgers, so you get to be the judge of that. From what I have seen, the meat was prepared in a clean pan and the chef responsible for it changed his workstation to cook it in a different spot - I don’t know if this is their regular routine or it’s done specifically to avoid contamination- The only problem I noticed is that the fish/halal gyoza were prepared in the same appliance as the non-halal ones and there was no cleaning in between, just scrubbing, so as a measure of safety I would advise Muslim customers to skip the gyoza, they aren’t good anyway. Stick to the ramen. I think it’s by far the best ramen I had in Japan. And all that for the regular price of a ramen , no overcharging Muslims because of halal like any other halal restaurant. Just a nice good ramen in an authentic atmosphere.

The services are so good , the staff and chefs are very friendly and kind. The resto has retro vibe ambience which is so cool and vintage, though the size is a bit small. I ate gengis khan ramen spicy and Gyoza that are muslim friendly. Gyoza is so good and flavoured well. The ramen soup is salty , but overall the taste is delicious. The lamb aroma is quite strong, but it is okay. This is michelin star btw, so all of you must try it once a lifetime at least when in Sapporo. The are near susukino station , exit 5.
