Honestly after visiting the Furano flower fields, this is my favorite place to stop to look at lavender. What a beautiful spot. Amazing views of Sapporo, dense lavender fields. So worth the visit!! Parking was 500¥ … which seems to be the going rate everywhere, and the road was steep and a bit dicey for being 2-ways when barely 1 1/2 car widths.
View on GoogleA parking lot with a spectacular view. Beyond the lavender you can see the city of Sapporo 🌇 the view is the best. 🌃 A spot where the road up is a steep, extremely narrow slope, like an attraction. Even my car, lowered by 10 cm, made it through safely, just barely. It's 500 yen during the day and 800 yen after 5 PM; they say it's because the night view is good so people go up, but many people can't stay until night because of their travel schedule. I wish they wouldn't raise the price.
View on GoogleI went at night by car, and the night view is worth the 800 yen parking fee!
View on GoogleIf you're looking for lavender fields, the signature summer sight of Hokkaido, there's no need to travel all the way to Furano. In the backyard of Chuo Ward in the city center there is a lavender carpet that only locals know. I arrived at the Horomi Pass parking lot after 9 o'clock and it was already almost full. Beyond the lavender field spreads the urban area of Sapporo. In front is the familiar Maruyama, and you can clearly see JR Tower and Sapporo Dome with the naked eye. Since there aren't as many foreign tourists as at other places, it really is a hidden gem as a scenic spot!
View on Google【As of June 26, 2021, the lavender fields are still in the bud stage.】 【Addendum; July 24, 2021, it was slightly past peak, but I was able to enjoy beautiful lavender (from the 4th photo onward).】 There is a spot where you can see the whole city of Sapporo, and the view is the best. It seems to be a lavender field at a private person's home, and I thought it must be truly beautiful when in full bloom. Please note that admission is charged (500 yen, 800 yen after 17:00), and that the road to the parking lot inside is very steep and narrow. It's quite far in the back of Sapporo city, but I think it's worth coming once.
