So very nice and so underrated. This is a must visit place if you are in Sapporo. The building is beautifully designed and blends with the surroundings. I had a good luck to visit the special exhibition of paintings on women in Paris in 1920's. It was really great and well organized. They have a nice cafe too.
View on GoogleVisited the special exhibition of Pokemon X Kogei when I was here on 6 May 2026. Twenty artists, ranging from a living national treasure to youngsters take on the theme of Pokemon, and created remarkable works of art using different materials. Related merchandise was on sale too! I was impressed with the techniques used.
View on GoogleWe came here specifically for the Pokemon event during our visit in Golden Week. Weirdly, there was no timed-entry. This meant that a very large crowd stood at the doors at opening time and they just let everyone rush in. For some reason, they put super tiny artworks at the start of the exhibit. So, everyone is immediately stuck trying to stare at the small works trying to identify Pokémon. A lot of these works are also terribly underlit, making it hard to see or take pictures. In total, we spent about 1h20min walking around and taking pictures. There was a larger collection than I was expecting, and lots of different materials were used to create the art. Overal, it was enjoyable minus the huge crowd at the start. There's also a pop-up souvenir shop with items specifically for this event.
View on GoogleSpent a lovely afternoon here. The staff were friendly, it was clean and quiet and the exhibitions were interesting. A great place to spend a few hrs on a cold winter afternoon. Child entry (11y) was free to the standard exhibition and only JY300 for the “special” exhibition. The best thing was the “live” exhibit where we were encouraged to look and then touch the installations to explore how what they felt like and then discuss how they made us feel - my daughter loved this!
View on GoogleAmazing experience! Although my wife and I only experienced the Pokemon x Kogei exhibit, it was awesome. One of my best, if not the best museum experiencse I had so far
