Visited in June 2026. Sapporo, Hokkaido 🇯🇵 Japan. The restaurant is located on the first floor of The Royal Park Canvas hotel right next to Odori Park. The interior is very modern and warm at the same time: lots of light wood, high ceilings, large windows, and impressive birch trunks that create a feeling of a forest inside. Open kitchen, soft lighting, and comfortable seating make it pleasant both during the day and in the evening. FOOD: We came for lunch and took the lunch set for 4,500 yen. It included soup, appetizer, main course, and dessert. • Soup — bright and refreshing, based on tomatoes and cucumber. Very summery with a clean and rich taste. • Appetizer — white asparagus with onsen egg (soft-boiled). Crispy asparagus paired perfectly with the runny rich yolk. • Main dish — trout with perfect medium doneness. The meat remained juicy and tender inside, with a crispy crust. The vegetables were also masterfully prepared. For an additional 1,500 yen we upgraded to Wagyu steak — it literally melted in the mouth with characteristic fattiness and sweetish flavor. The crispy crust added a pleasant texture. • Dessert — light strawberry mousse, a nice finish. SERVICE: Service is at a high level — attentive, unobtrusive, and professional. The staff sense the right moment: they clear plates timely, serve the next dishes on time, and are always ready to help with choices. VERDICT: Hokkaido Cuisine KAMUY is a stylish and high-quality restaurant in Sapporo that successfully combines modern design, local ingredients, and excellent execution. A great choice for lunch or dinner near Odori Park.
View on GoogleCozy environment, with nice food, and lucky enough to find wines from Takahiko by glass. Of course, with the very friendly sommelier - a pleasant experience 😁
View on GoogleGood atmosphere and well decorated. Foods are well prepared and quite tasty especially Hokkaido beef steak and Duck confit. Though the service compare to food and venue is far behind. Staffs not addressing and handle just ordinary task well. Ordinary common things, water, glass, utensil, white-ware not provided unless you asked for. All Utensils and Cutlery come in stack. So Self service! As the shop located on a hotel entrance , right in the center of Sapporo city. Decorated in a modern luxury manner, customers expecting a proper service.
View on GoogleWe stayed at The Royal Park, the restaurant is at the grand floor of the hotel. The night we went out was cold, the staff didn’t pay attention to the guests arrival, not initiate with the greetings. I asked if they could offer me a napkin or tissue for my young kid to wipe his running nose, the staff turned down and said no no no. There’s no passion and patience shown for guests having young kid. That stopped my thought of dining there as they did not have good attitude to potential guests…probably not a kids friendly place
View on GoogleDisappointing Experience Despite Good Location The location is excellent and the food is decent—above average but nothing particularly memorable. However, the service and hygiene were shockingly poor and completely ruined the experience. First, the chef was training an apprentice right in front of the counter seats, where customers could see everything. The entire scene was chaotic, rushed, and frankly unprofessional. At one point, vegetables were dropped on the counter and still picked up and plated as if nothing had happened. This is unacceptable for any establishment that charges premium prices. Second, there were numerous small flies around the counter, a clear sign of poor sanitation. For a restaurant of this caliber and in this location, it’s disgraceful not to have proper hygiene control. Lastly, one of the staff members was loudly chatting with a customer who was clearly a friend, disrupting the otherwise quiet atmosphere. The conversation was casual, loud, and completely inappropriate for a professional dining setting. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. I will not be returning, and I cannot recommend this place to anyone who expects basic cleanliness and professional service—no matter how good the location is.
